The only thing on there that has been officially "confirmed" is that they planned to make one.
There are multiple "leaked" items from both manufacturers that say the same thing.

All of which existed before COVID.

Reality is that all auto manufacturers aren't going to be in a rush to do anything new or risky until EBITDA is back up. And if they do.. well they either deserve the rewards or deserve the bankruptcy proceedings depending on how that turns out ha

I'm actually with TCoat on this one. I don't see them doing it for awhile, if at all. Pre COVID and post COVID are different times for businesses. We will see if anything comes out from Subaru in the last few weeks and the future.. otherwise.. well don't count on it.

Gives us plenty of time to fix a Neptune and a Hakone 86 before fixing our first crashed 2nd gen! haha

Agree w Tcoat & Dave on this. All the leak is before covid. Atm 86 is in a tight position. Last month, I have heard that if covid thing is going, axing next gen 86/BRZ was on the table. Right now how’s that going? IDK but a lot of things have been pushed back. I don’t even know they’re showing it off this yr anymore.

It was a relatively big deal here when it happened because folks went from being able to drive almost for free in Georgia to having to pay.

When the Leaf first came out between the Federal credit and the Georgia state credit, you could basically lease a Leaf for two years at net no cost. (This may have been true in other states too, just don't know).

As part of the state incentive ending, they created the annual road tax charge. There was debate about whether it would be a flat fee or a "per mile" charge, but they went with a flat fee. I was a little surprised to see it is the highest in the US.

Key word being produced IN California. California can't rely on themselves for power, a lot is brought in. And I wouldn't tote nuclear since the CA government is hell bent on shutting down all nuclear plants.

Please do bother discussing the damage from fracking, since most widely circulated information is BS. Then after that we could discuss how eco friendly the production of solar panels and Li batteries are

Actually, I'm pretty sure that wind and solar is heavily subsidized in every country. It's the only way its even possible - especially if you install components built in China (where they don't give a crap about how dirty the production process is...).

86 has been already in a tight position after Toyota released Supra and made even worse for 86 after announcing 2.0L version. With Covid situation, I would say 86 is in a very "unlikely" situation. I can't say the same for Subaru though. They have the production, no overlapping products, and everything needed for a second gen if they want BRZ a place in their lineup. But I had the impression that BRZ/86 was here mostly due to Toyota's arm twisting Subaru. With that pressure gone, Subaru might cancel BRZ as well. They have WRX and STI for their brand image where BRZ has never been.

Many people here are so anxious to see a second gen with this and that improvements they dream on. Here goes the whole pie out the window, those might need to find something else to complain about.

As production resumes at factories around the world, hopefully as planned this month, these questions will be answered. Unfortunately, the auto plants cannot not just open until the suppliers reopen, etc, etc. So it will be a slow start to get things moving before we know how any of this has affected any of the automakers future plans. Until we see an official cancellation nothing can be assumed.

Many ppl were so anxious to see 2nd gen and sure in hello was one of em! But more times goes on & more info I get & more I learn about corruption pouring into vein of this project, one question come to mind “What happened to their motto for this car?” That motto left when Tada-san left too?

Either way, we’ll find out this yr.

I was actually worried that the 2nd gen wasn't going the get any of that passion which I can clearly see and appreciate. Yeah, we will find out. I am holding on to mine.

How bad could it be?

The worst it could be for me is NO second gen 86. If they dropped the manual then that would be the second worse thing.
