Read his first post. Having the parts is only part of the equation!

Like someone else said if he can swap a clutch he can swap one of the engines in these cars. Outside of getting the trans off, and back on, the engine, it's pretty easy to do.

Yep. He wants to do an AT to MT swap. That is not a entry level work. In the long run it would be better for him to just trade the car. I see nothing but headaches in his future if he did the swap.

Better off just dropping in a used motor. I 100% get wanting to upgrade but it definitely sounds like a clusterfuck. Replace the engine then trade for a manual

This. If it is determined there is actually something serious wrong with the engine. That had not been established yet by any means.

Agreed. A simple leak down test should certify a valve spring issue. Check oil for sparkles to verify spun bearing. Anything else I'm missing?

Brake booster plumbing. If brakes are fixed then the pump did something and maybe something else is still wrong.

If brakes aren't fixed then I'll bet:
1. The used replacement pump was also shot
2. Improper installation

These cars are easy to do the pedal swap in.. the rest is all pretty damn easy.

I get that it's not an entry level job, but compared to the several cars I'd done swaps in (all AT to MT swaps) it's about the easiest car to swap except for some Hondas.

The worse I think I did was probably a Nissan 240SX. Even a Roadmaster estate is easier than that pos!

Easy for you! You are not on a forum posting "hey guys what is this noise?"

The brakes are fine guys. Iv gotten so frustrated with this and keep going back and forth. Auto engines are expensive I found everything I need for manual swap for around 4k so that sounded like a no-brainer. But now I just want to trade it in after fixing it and take the 4k negative equiy. I'm probably going to have it looked at more I have a couple people/places to try now

Like we mentioned above... There are several tests that can be done to check engine health without tearing it open. Shouldn't cost more than a couple hundred bucks if that. $1500 for diagnostics is insane
