I've found the same thing, using "todays posts" and "subscribed threads" works to show new posts.

No idea what you're talking about.. so I must have "adapted" and "moved on" without going through the WTF phase!! And then pin it on @humfrz phase and then ask the oracle @Tcoat phase (he's too busy drooling over his Hakone thingy) and I'm left with you and your wise wisdom....

I do use the "new posts" button. I see what's new and then a small heading/gap with posts that are new but haven't changed since I last checked..

I however have noticed that my notifications such as getting quoted etc. They don't appear bold and "Your notification" counter drops to zero even if I haven't viewed the responses..

I did notice a new option on the "quick links" tab down the bottom named "user tagging statistics". No surprises however...
