there's a small group of tacoma owners that will strongly disagree.

FWIW it will make the 1st gen feel that much more “special” (shallow reasoning I know, but also an honest reality, as exclusivity is a big part of sports car owning, driving, collecting, etc.) |

my truck is my car. it's also my monster truck, my grocery getter, my family car, and my mall crawler.
i believe there's also a passionate group of manual corolla owners, but i've moved on from having to listen to whiny people that insist on buying economical vehicles.

I think you guys were smart to get those hakones. The next 86 might be a better car overall but probably not meant for enthusiasts only.

yes. but finding them is a wild goose chase. that's the problem with toyota-- you can't special order anything from the factory, toyota just makes what they believe will sell. so they make 1-2% manual tacoma's optioned as they feel, and send them wherever. so those that want them have to find a dealer that's willing to search country-wide. many won't spend the time.
but the manuals seem to hold their value better due to the rarity/demand...
