491 posts, knowledgable about the car and cars generally, and a strong contributor. Not a troll, but like everyone else here possessed of an opinion. which you can either agree with or not.
I love the BRZ buyers telling people to harden up as the question doesn't affect them. If you want to see whinging check on some of the other aussie forums, 16 plus pages already. As to comparing this to Honda forums that's meh - forums are for opinions and people are entitled to theirs. |

Laugh all you like, but having owned 5 BMW's in the last few years, all with a can of crap filler, and run flat tyres, I vowed to not buy a car without a proper spare. The shit that Toyota pulled would have been somewhat acceptable had they been upfront about it, but instead they mislead customers. So for what it's worth, I am seriously considering swapping my order for the new A45 amg. I'm sure this will make sweet fuck all difference to them, but I have principles and it'll make sleep better at night... Also, whomever was in charge of this decision should be sacked, in fact the line manager as well, such bad PR over misshandling of this... |

as i have said before, i am going to pull it out and stick it in the garage and put in some tyre in a can. if they scrapped it and put the tyre in the can in it would save me money! Remove the spare - 25-30kg right there saved from the weight of the car, also lowers the centre of gravity more. makes moving the battery to the boot better for weight distribution. blah blah blah. Plus like many others on here, ill probably change the wheels anyway. maybe Toyota/subi should sell the car less wheels... But seriously, this is the internet. whinging on here is not going to get you far, ring up your dealer and talk to them. also, as i have said previously, the document posted is for internal use only, it has not been released to the public yet. things may change. just calm the fuck down and worry about more important things in your life.

Completely serious, but my comment was in relation to these posts, which I probably should have quoted:

Country roads (where you can actually drive a car properly), no mobile coverage = must have spare.
I would be annoyed, esp as it was on the specs when i ordered, and is one of the factors leading to a deposit. I have already expressed my hope to Subaru that they do not follow the Toyota lead. |

Understandably so. Value has been removed after you have done the deal to purchase a car in the belief it comes with a spare.
However TMCA are running a business and they've evidently made a business decision that they can remove that value and still be successful. In hindsight they may wish they'd never included the spare in the first place, or perhaps they always intended to delete it after Subaru announced their offering. We'll never know. Whether they expect the people with existing orders to just wear it or they do something else, time will tell. I'll be selling 4 or 5 spares, plus perhaps a mat (depending upon whether or not mine is deleted). Whether I get a spare or not, I'm happy that it'll be easier to sell my stock wheels, effectively reducing the price of car. I can fully appreciate that others may take a different view. |
