FYI -

As of september production - The full size spare wheel in the 86 will be replaced with a tyre repair kit. Subsequently the cargo mat will be deleted.

Cheers

DO you have a source for this?

Does that mean there aint even a space saver? Thats abit dodge considering my mums prius tyre got a puncture and was unrepairable....imagine if she didnt have a spare at all....

TheDemons 07-19-2012 02:18 AM

Does that effect the purchase price?

Well that's excellent - what I meant was is there anything in writing anywhere?, did you hear it from a dealers sales person or are you at a dealership?

Looks like another way to sell the Toyota Roadside Assist.

Load of bs hey, took it to 4 tyre shops instead we had to buy a a new tyre for 240, stupid bridgestone turanza....

Hmm... That's a bit naughty one of the constant bits of praise for the car is that it comes with a full size spare.

Time to get a quote from a Toyota dealer for a replacement wheel and tyre for an 86 to use as a bargaining chip methinks.

Mine's scheduled for August build, and I've already bought a spacesaver for weight and space reduction but this seems slightly underhanded.

Raz555 07-19-2012 02:33 AM

That is pretty crap. Should at least be a space saver wheel. Get a blow out when your driving down south (for WA guys) and your stuck. Weekend messed up waiting for a tow.

Hope they make a new flat rubber boot liner, because I'll be asking for a free one since they changed the spec after I have placed the order.

Trueno86 07-19-2012 02:36 AM

Thanks for the info Blood86, appreciate the work youve done for us buyers.

I would have assumed this is quite a saving especially for GTS models because they no longer need to provide a spare alloy (~250?) and Tyre (~200-250). Instead we get the repair kit (~$100?).

Do you know much about the kit, as in is it just a patch thing to seal the hole?

A side effect would be that the car becomes lighter and the boot is now flat:happyanim:

Dorikin 07-19-2012 02:40 AM

That's a bit annoying. My partner has a GTS ordered and I'd feel safer for her to have a full size spare than a tyre kit as backup.

Gir 07-19-2012 02:44 AM

Does this mean current owners will be able to get the flat floor carpet (going to take out my full spare and put a space saver in)?
