If it was being released summer of 2021 wouldn't we already be seeing/hearing about it?
The FT-86 concept was unveiled in 2009...

Can't be right as the TRD edition already has the stuff the handling package includes. No dealer i've spoken with so far can confirm as I suspect Toyota Canada did not provide much detailed information on these cars even to their dealerships. For the 2019 models which had the TRD limited edition trim, they listed everything extra that it comes with. For the 2020, nada, if it weren't for the pictures that show the red brembo calipers, i wouldn't have been wondering if it came with the brembos. But at the MSRP of the GT 6M trim vs the BRZ sport tech RS trim, the GT trim would be an overpriced ripoff if it didn't have the dampers and brembos

Toyota Canada completely and totally SUCKs at listing features compared to USA. If you look at the listed features for the Hakone they sort of say "well it is green and has wheels" when the list of special features is actually pretty long. All in all Toyota Canada (and most dealers) just don't give a crap if they sell these cars.

The site doesn't say a word about the PP brakes and dampener but the GT picture from the Canadian site clearly shows 18" wheels and brembos.

anyone in Canada have the 2020 86 in GT 6M (non-hakone) in their showrooms yet? our local dealerships is expecting them mid march. Just wondering if anyone on here has seen one physically and can confirm that it comes standard with brembos (i'm assuming if it does then the sachs dampers would be standard too)

Too bad i'm a toyota fanboy as the toyota has priced the 86 unjustifiably higher than the brz without adding any extras

Why is that?!

Here in Ontario the difference between 2020 base 86 and base BRZ is $4000!
BRZ is cheaper.

I prefer an 86, but not by 4k!

My local dealer won't even stock any of them not even the base. Order only.

Where are you shopping? The difference between the two base models is only $2000. Still a totally unexplained and hard to justify increase but half of what you are claiming.

IT specifically says the GT trims have the 18" wheels though, so theres that.
(Go to the build and price and click on the "key features" link under the model selection that just tells you what each trim has)

No mention of the brakes or dampers though.

All the 2020's that are listed right now happens to be the Hakones from what ive seen so theres on telling what the 2020 GT trims actually have.

Even basic features are left off the Canadian sites. It is almost impossible to tell what the cars have or don't.

Seats - Yes
Steering - Yes
Mirror - Yes
Meh nobody is going to buy them anyway so that is good enough.

I bought 3 new cars in the last 3 years using Unhaggle. They are usually pretty accurate.
As you can see Subaru gives a $1500 discount and I added white paint to an 86, but the difference is around 4k.

Taking the paint and discount off and it is closer to $2000. At least the MSRP is. The only interesting part of that is the dealer cost difference. Explains why Toyota won't haggle much but Subaru will.

I just finished comparing prices and talking deals with both dealers and there was never anything close to a $4K difference between similar trim levels. In fact I got my special edition at just a little over what that says they want for a base!

Same deal here in Alberta the 2 dealerships that brought in 2020 86 2 are hakones and 1 was base.model. If anyone in Canada sees a non hakone 2020 gt 6m in Canada please confirm that it has brembos and the dampers! It's the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on one!

Checked the website for the Sherwood Park Toyota and apparently they have a 2020 GT listed in their inventory. The spec sheet mentions the 18" TRD wheels but the brakes are mentioned as the 11" size (which would correspond to the standard size brakes vs the larger Brembos) and no mention of the sachs dampers. I cant tell if they just copy/pasted some standard spec sheet off the Toyota website or not.
They also have no pics yet.

Im leaning towards no sachs/brembos though. Seems like to get those up here in Canada you either need to get the 2019 TRD edition or go for a BRZ Sport Tech RS.
