Science is cool.

I know a guy who went to the Antarctic and did core sample testing, he showed me some cool stuff on how the cycles work, and what effects the cycles, like volcanos, Co2, other gases and polution.

You can see the same stuff in geology.

http://ossfoundation.us/projects/env.../natural-cycle

It's plain to see that modern humans (post industrial age) have had a huge impact, add that to the natural cycles......, it's like the LEL/UEL of fuel, under your fine, over your fine, but when it's just right, BANG.

Our ecosystem has evoled to deal with these changes, but it happens over hundreds of thousands of years, the problem is, we have added so much, so fast, the ecosystem cannot keep up, when that happens....??????, bang, maybe fizzle, maybe the lizard men come out from underground to take back their planet, maybe not...

Permian–Triassic extinction event (End Permian): 252 Ma at the Permian–Triassic transition.[10] Earth's largest extinction killed 57% of all families, 83% of all genera and 90% to 96% of all species[8] (53% of marine families, 84% of marine genera, about 96% of all marine species and an estimated 70% of land species,[3] including insects).[11] The highly successful marine arthropod, the trilobite, became extinct. The evidence regarding plants is less clear, but new taxa became dominant after the extinction.[12] The "Great Dying" had enormous evolutionary significance: on land, it ended the primacy of mammal-like reptiles. The recovery of vertebrates took 30 million years,[13] but the vacant niches created the opportunity for archosaurs to become ascendant. In the seas, the percentage of animals that were sessile dropped from 67% to 50%. The whole late Permian was a difficult time for at least marine life, even before the "Great Dying".

Science is scary too.

Love it when people think there smarter then climatologists.......

Just have to open your eyes to see major disasters yearly, drying climate which would be catastrophic NOW if it wasn't for the 16,000 desalination plants around the world.

Well that would be news to me, as someone who spent several years as a researcher writing grant proposals. But yes, I have no idea how it works.

May I ask what your sources are? I’m stuck at an airport and would love a good read.

It's not so much anyone denying science.

More like, of all the major environmental problems affecting the planet, why is only the most difficult one to change being given attention? Oh right, because its the one that involves the most money, and would exert increased authority over the most people.

Major things I see an issue in the USA. Much of the mid west use coal fire power plants... Which would need more output and could be worse than cars themselves. The supply of rare Earth metals to make the batteries. When the batteries are spent you need storage or some way to recycle cells to be reused again. The next new car I buy will be an EV for the family. I want to see EVs take off. EVs will be on the road far longer than ICE cars due to much simpler maintenance. Let's just not confuse the stupid auto pilot bullshit for more complicated electric systems. EVs without this are no different than standard ICE cars with all this worthless tech. The only thing I want to see on new cars as far as safety is the forward collision warning/braking, adaptive cruise control and lane keep/assist tech. Everything can go away thank you

Not sure who that was directed at, but personally, I'm far from a Boomer.

The greatest reduction in CO2, by any developed country, has been the US - which has done it all with fracking and the resulting inexpensive bountiful supplies of natural gas we have. Current battery tech for EVs relies too much on rare earth metals. Unless new (and superior in all way) batteries are developed with common materials, they're a technological dead end. And I'm not sure I would call EVs simpler than ICE cars - what's more reliable, a mechanical system or one that has tons of electronics? In my experience its the one with fewer electronics.

Think about EVs this way. Remember how crappy the first automated clutch transmissions were? From the early 2000s? Compared to the latest dual clutch units now? That's how current EVs are going to be looked at in 10 years. Nobody is going to want them.

Boomer identified the issue decades ago and at least started baby steps to reduce the easy stuff. This is why there are so many emission laws now for the Millennials to hate on and complain are a waste of time. Having experienced big cites prior to the changes I can't even imagine what it would be like now without the emission controls on vehicles.
