True. I stand corrected. For the first two years. However, it's been a V8 for the last 62 years though. Still...

Maybe the target market isn't the "true fan boys". In a similar vein to BMW making a fwd car. I'm suggesting most buyers won't care.

BMW already did all the engineering to stick that engine in for the lower trim Z4/international Zupra, it weighs less over the front end improving the cars balance while still being capable of >300whp with a tune and exhaust which is plenty of fun for most people in a <3200 lb car.

BMW people I know say the 4 banger is more fun to hoon.

I'm more interested in the 4cylinder Supra than the 6. Less weight, better F/R distribution, less $$$, bring it...

I'm just trying to learn and play devil's advocate.

BRZ/86 sales are at an all-time low. How will having a 4-cyl Supra going to help that or the cause for a next gen twin?

I know the B58 makes the supra "heavy" but isn't it already at a 50/50 weight distribution?

And nay sayers said the GTR was to heavy, much like the GTR, I believe the Zupra never got the memo that they were to "fat".

The original AE86 only lasted 5 years.

The twins have had a good innings and could retire with honour.

What will I replace my 86 with when I get bored of it or kill it? Meh, maybe a MX5 RF if there still around, I'm liking them more and more everytime I see one, maybe...maybe....

50/50 isn't ideal, don't buy marketing BS.

Rearward weight bias is superior for handling.

They lied.

I don't see why they should handicap Supra sales in the hopes of selling more twins. Might rob *some* twin sales, but IMO it's better to have more rwd sports car options.

Not quite, it's more like 51.5/48.5.
As noted, 50/50 isn't "perfect", more rearward is better. So even if the I-6 Supra did have 50/50 distribution, the I-4 version should still be BETTER than that with a slightly rearward bias.

I'm reading that the smaller engined Supra is a better handling car...

Supras Everywhere

Even in my small town the closest dealer has three in stock using one as a demo.

When there last week for routine service of another Toyota I talked at length with a very knowledgeable salesman who said the biggest turnoff to potential buyers is the BMW "engineering" influence. He said prospects are well informed and reluctant to buy even with his best efforts to highlight the differences between brands favoring Toyota.

He sensed my interest and without asking offered a Premium with Driver Assist Package (MSRP $56K) in stock for $49K. Interesting but it will only get better next month when the snow flies and national/regional incentives might arrive.

After leaving he called me at home and offered an even lower price "if I agreed not to disclose it if I buy".

Since you didn't disclose the price, I am guessing you bought it???

Didn't buy, will wait for a desperation offer next month. The salesman became more motivated when I declined a demo drive (pressed for time but he took it as lack of interest that needed more incentive). I have to say it looks far better in person than pics, especially in a darker color that helps to hide the fake vents.
