Interior light bar installation
I got the Auro double row interior lighting kit with the custom color door opening.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...k_ql_qh_dp_hza I am not a pro but the installation looks straight forward. But have a question. The control module has a negative, positive (fuse tap with 10A is provided) and an aux wiring option (recommendation is to wire it to trigger wire for door lights). What would be the best fuse option for the positive (radio and stop are occupied)? Is the trigger wire for door lights the little black plastic that pops out when opening the door? I think that one has a single wire which I think is negative. Should I splice it direct to the single wire? Thanks |

where's the installation instructions? i don't see anything that gives any direction. yes, the door contacts on this car are negative-triggers, which usually never jives with anything aftermarket, which almost always is looking for a positive trigger.
more importantly, the door sensors are connected to the BCM to trigger the dome light, meaning that if you short them, you blow the expensive BCM out, and it requires a trip to the dealer... note for the future: if someone else throws around the 'E-word' like it's free, there's a significant cost behind it they're not telling you about.

Thanks for the important information regarding the potential short. I think the installation guide is ok for someone who knows what to do! It’s here: https://support.opt-7.com/742771-AUR...llation-Guide- Based on your info I just cancelled the aux install and just used the cigarette lighter. Still like it as a nice footwell illumination cheaper than the very expensive one sold at Subaru! Will search a little more where I can splice the auxiliary option. Will do a hardwire for the - and + (have to figure out which fuse to use, maybe the cigarette lighter p/pin1 or2) and wire the auxiliary to a dome light if I ca dissect where it is. Thanks again. Final product. It’s definitely acceptable for me.
Easy hook up with the cigarette lighter and starts with the engine on. What I would like to have is that it turns on whit a selected color (it has the auxiliary cable for door opening) such as the dome light when you get closer to the car or the door lights when you open the door. Then it can go on with the settings when the engine is on. Let’s see what I can do later! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Interior light bar installation
Hi again,
As mentioned in the original post, I installed (cigarette lighter) footwell light bars (an app-controlled version). I am completely OK with the results except for the fact that I want them to light up when the door or the dome light is on. The kit has an additional wire to get activated with a trigger which they call it the auxiliary cable and I tried the door light trigger which did not activate it (most probably because of the door trigger wire is a negative as Soundman98 mentioned). One alternative I found was to tap it in the harness inside the door panel close to the speaker. I think light blue and purple cables are the door lights. There is a video on youtube ( [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjTjz-eEiiA&list=LLI7YNymaHfqdt-bOZxfwAMA&index=5&t=0s&pbjreload=10[/ame] ). But I don't want to open the panel and get the wires through the door etc. What about using prongs that are leftover from my mirror tap and plug it into the dome light? For the radar mount, I used the mirror harness which puts the radar on when the engine is on. Should I use the main harness to plug in the auxiliary cable to activate the footwell light together with the dome? In the picture below I think the green and pink cables are the main dome light. Should I find the positive trigger and pin the prongs here? ![]() The last question, if sealed perfectly do you think that footwell lights turning on just when the dome light is on and runs after that with the cigarette lighter might harm anything? Thanks |
