Anything pre engine and post maf could have a vacuum leak. But if it is post the “twin screws” so between blower and manifold or manifold and head it would turn into a boost leak under boost and vacuum leak out of boost. If it was pre blower then your boost and power would not be effected. |

Yup. It was leaking at bypass and the elbow where metal touches metal. Sprintex didn't include seals on there. They cut corners a lot. Getting it done right by Jon Bond Performance.

With the jacket which was only the prototype which covered only a bit over half of the SC the temps would spike but not as high but would settle very quickly compared to standard. The new Jacket covers the whole casing of the SC so has to be more effective than what I was running before . Did find my notes but they are badly water damaged New laminova/ intercooler core is progressing well and will flow infinitely better. |

Debating on selling the SC kit in favor of a turbo kit. I am Not ready to give up quite yet on the little SC. Still trying to chase down this dumb high positive LTFT. Next step is to get a shop to smoke test the car and see if we can track down the leak. I just hope the SC is not going to need a rebuild :/ if the leak is between the screws and manifold and before the engine

I hear a whoosh of air releasing in my engine bay when i tirn my car off. What do you guys think this could be? Lasts about 1 second.
It can best be described as a 'sigh' sound or low pitched 'hiss'. Last edited by kev0; 12-26-2019 at 08:03 PM. |

If nobody else is hearing the wooshing sound when they turn the motor off, I'm starting to think that a hose might be connected into the wrong hole in the back of the SC. If that's the case...the car shouldn't even run, right?

Got the smoke test done. at both ends of the plastic intake tube after the MAF some smoke was coming out. Is it safe to use some sealant on the intake pipe at both ends? Or do you think they had to much pressure. Would this make sense for an idle vacuum leak? Buddy who did the install did not need it... and I tighten down the worm clamps as tight as they can go...

You could just use the new core but still think the core/laminova with jacket would be the ultimate but will know more when ever I get mine back on the road Have no plans at this stage to make these as has taken alot of work so would need to be put into even a limited production run to make it viable . Found out Sprintex has a new CEO and apparently he is a car nut and has bought himself an 86 and put a kit on it so will be interesting to see if they do more development work. Would be good if they offered stage 1 , 2 and 3 kits like others do . |
