Writing here, because I just read within this thread about geezers not buying stuff...me 73yo.
Since we're way the fuck off topic now it seems: I just read the Road & Track December 2019/January 2020 issue, an article relating to their choice for Performance Car of The Year. 11 cars. Prices from 30k to 332k. And they picked the Hyundai Veloster N with Performance Package as their winner. It's the cheapest car they tested. They loved it for it's fun to drive factor. So I'm thinking about one. They've been out since the 2019 my. Now the 2020 my costs $500. more. But still around $30,420 MSRP. I've Hated Hyundai since they fucked us with junk cars back in the 80s, but hey things change. Don't get me wrong, my FRS is not for sale yet. I'm divorced so no one to tell me I can't have two sporty cars at once. Note: I'm slow to catch on to stuff. The Hyundai I just heard about, a year late. The Ford Fiesta ST stopped being available here shortly after I finally found of it's existence last spring. Last edited by ToySub1946; 12-11-2019 at 12:32 AM. |

Was 53 when I purchased my 86 new.
My Mrs thrashes my car whenever she can, although she hates getting in and out. "All us old guys and girls" at work are buying them new and generally keeping them for a while, the young guys are buying used and typically flipping them after a year or so. Lack of performance and not being able to fit 4 adults in being the main reasons for the young guys and girls flipping them. Some of the old boys with the early cars are swapping to the MX5 ND, the RF mainly, basically a much nicer car, sans rear seat/additional storage. The RF is currently the only car I would concider flipping my 17 for, but I'm not due to swap it out till 2022.

What is considered young?
I just realized at 31 I'm not young whipper snapper. I bought mine new because I wanted to put a bunch of miles on it and maintain it to my standard through out its life. I'm slightly concerned about long term engine reliability. Some people have over 200k km, others I've seen the motor pop at 120k. |

It's relative, but you're young.
