Still here, still working on it. New schedule is kicking my butt and pay roll screw ups have me saving what money I do have. Should be back to getting the car going as soon as they are figured out.
Heads are removed and I couldn't find any issues other than lots of carbon and a nice straight line in the cylinder walls. It's not sharp, but can feel it with my finger. Cross hatching is still apparent in the walls though, so thinking it would have had to been in it when it was built? I am confused on where the metal is coming from at this point. Rings and bearings aren't a terrible idea. I did break a steam port line bolt off in the head which I now need to try and get out. Thinking I can just weld a nut to it and pull it out. Pictures when I get a chance

You should be able to weld a nut to that broken bolt. Either that or drill and use a screw extractor and some heat.

Few updates. Dropped the head off to get the stud extracted. They ended up having to helicoil the head, but should make it so it doesn't happen again.
Heads are back on and torqued down. Broke down and bought an electronic torque wrench to make the degree tightening easier. Just need to measure and order pushrods. That being said, I also broke down and bought 2jz engine mounts, 2jz Wiseco pistons, and a few PHR goodies that were on sale for black friday. As soon as the pistons get here I will drop the block and pistons off at the machine shop. Plan is to sell off the LS to fund the ecu/harness and intake/exhaust parts. Already have a turbo that I planned to use with the LS.

Got a few parts in.
I am pretty sure these are going to need a bit of work. Mostly because these are designed to sit on top of the OEM engine mount bracket. The bracket is cut off with the vorshlag kit. So I will probably need some spacers of some sort. Though I will see if I can get away with the engine sitting lower a tiny bit. Rod bearings also came in, still haven't seen them. Pushrods came in for the LS. Hopefully get those installed this weekend and get the car running. Maybe a running ls will entice more buyers haha.

I reread most of your thread looks like you probably had that figured out when you originally installed the engine.

PHR stuff finally came in. Going to try and smooth out the transitions on most of these parts. Try and get some better flow.

Scored a sick deal on a Clutch Masters 2JZ/t56 fx300 clutch kit. Includes flywheel and an adjustable slave cylinder. Excited for that to get here as that saved me a ton of money and knocks something important off the list. Just need to order the bellhousing and I can set the engine in after it comes back from machine shop/assembly while I collect more of the parts.
Clutch kit was used for around 1000 miles before being swapped for a higher capacity multi-disk unit. So disk is slightly used.

Got the LS almost running and then ran into a dead battery and couldn't even get it to jump start. So battery sat on a charger/tender overnight.
I did get the new O2 sensors installed along with new with new harness connectors as mine were a little crispy. Then while finishing up the exhaust I found my oil pan resting on my steering rack. Seems the bushings in my engine mounts have completely failed and crumbled to pieces. Going to have to get that fixed quickly

Damn brother, glad to see you still sticking with the chassis. A long way since you were rally crossing a SBD fa20!

Well I haven't been on in way too long. Lots has happened. Tore down the LS and eventually sold it and have gone head first into the 2jz swap. Building the engine myself this time so I only have myself to blame if something goes wrong. Build took a little twist as well. On to pictures!
Painted Freshly machined block. Also spent some time cleaning out the inside of the block. Some very rudimentary porting/polishing of the head. Really just a slight clean up before after (they have been cleaned up more after this picture was taken) cleaned up a lot of the casting flash in the head and spent time cutting down the sharp edges from everything I could: before after Stock piling parts along the way. Not pictured is ARP main studs, and ARP CA625+ head bolts, a few sets of bearings (I had to order multiple to get the clearances I wanted), full gasket set, PHR Ported Oil Pump, New water pump, alternator stud fix by Venom Automotive. Then the build took two interesting and time/money consuming directions. The plan was to run a stock head with upgraded valve springs and shimless buckets as anything more wasn't really needed... that was until I had to hammer the exhaust valves out of the head. They didn't just tap out with the hammer... I had to give them some good whacks. Built head time... (why are these so expensive) So head is off at the machine shop getting new valve guides installed along with a valve job. The other project was the surprise purchase of a BMW DCT. I have wanted to go that direction for awhile, and this appeared for a decent price. Had to get me some paddles to go along with it paddle extensions. I got a set in blue and in black, but I think I prefer the black set. Currently waiting on a custom (one off piece so far) transmission adapter. Should be finished in a week or so. Trying to sell off my T56 and clutch kit and other things to help offset the cost and it's not going so well. So parts buying has slowed down a bit, we are also coming into winter which slows things down drastically as well. Short Block is almost done. Need to get the Rods/pistons installed. Crank is in though This was probably all over the place, but hopefully should be update a bit more often.

There are two main standalone controllers. DKGecu and HTK Tuning. Will most likely going to go with DKGecu.
