That's when I posted the photo and heads exploded here, since everyone is basically in high school on their first car.

Now that I have new pads, I will take a look and see how much pad is exposed with 100% pad, and if any of it is visible from the outside, without removing the wheels.
When I was in HS, I never had a problem seeing the brake pads -

How many kilometres did you get from your original pads? Are the STI ones different from the originals?

I’m at ~40,000km on mine, and wondering if I should buy a set, but when I look online I only see pads for the smaller non-Brembo brakes.

They are shipping from JapanParts so I haven't got them yet. And I still have little meat on the OE pads. I'm just over 40k miles.

You can see the pads without touching a single tool.
I can imagine lots of squawking, griping and whining if some of these folks decided they wanted to make a visual inspection of drum brake shoes. <g>
