It depends - not always time to warm up, sometimes it cools down and sometimes you're sharing a car in an enduro with a driver that doesn't know what a "pedal dance" is.

Pre-Grid
This requires the cars to queue up on pregrid in preparation to leave the track. At many tracks there are sound ordinances that don't allow any engines to fire prior to say 9am, but you have to be on pregrid at 9:05am. Not enough warmup time, especially in the cold PacNW.
Secondly, in some racing organizations you have what's called the "5 minute warning" on pregrid where the engines have to be OFF and my FRS has actually cooled down enough during that 5 minutes that when the 1 Minute warning whistle blows (to fire up the cars) the PD won't engage!

Endurance racing
In many orgs, during a pit stop with a driver change and refueling, the car has to be OFF. Once you've completed your driver change or refueling you want to get out of your pitstall ASAP, so the PD is another delay, especially in the heat of the moment, especially when not all the drivers have the pattern memorized. Not all endurance cars are heavily prepped big budget cars with standalone ECUs and the such - There's also shorter enduros like 1 and 2 hour events.

I'm disappointed with Toyota for the fact that on a bespoke sports car platform, that the TC-OFF function is so inadequate that people have to resort to utilizing PD mode.

Well even with the speed requirement it’s a hell of a lot better than having to do the pedal dance every time the ignition is cut. I suspect I would leave the aids off by default and only turn them off if it’s raining and from my experience with playing with canbus you could turn PD off while moving so this works for me.

Yah you can turn it off while moving but not on.

well i can confirm that it turns off ABS too. But not to sure about the brake bias. Il have to do more testing.

but to ermax point sometimes in cold weather it can take a long time for the car to get to "operating temp" so that PD could work. Even here, it take at least 10 minutes to be able to get to that temp.
it's not something that i'm very well acquainted with. it's possible i know i've screwed up and know it's about to stall, so i'm already trying to get the starter to bump as the motor sputters down. but it seems every time i attempt to restart a stall condition, i need to press-off, then press-start...

i have wondered this as well. not something i'm eager to try, but if the situation calls for it, i'm definitely willing to give it a shot!

Glad I found this thread again.. what about disabling the SRS light for track cars without airbags?

When multiple options are selected will each be controllable through a separate set of wires? I assume so, just wanted to check before ordering. (edit: further reading pretty much answered that as a yes.. so now just wondering about SRS).

Hmm i haven't though about the SRS lights just for track cars. But this could be done in different way, One emulating the SRS system canbus data. Thus telling the cluster to turn the light off (assuming you gutted the SRS module). Or sending factory/dealer commands to turn it off. That would not be difficult. But for Track ONLY cars i think that's possible. What always worried me was those who who have track cars but also street them. As in in some states its illiegal to tamper with the Airbag light (SRS).I would not feel comfortable having the light off if someone removes their curtain/passenger airbags and would have a passenger and get into a accident out in the streets.

But i guess if you have a track only car i can def take that light off. oh and yes! for now temporarily i have it as just dropdown menus on what features you want. Yes those features can be individually turned on or off by the wires for each one. or you can bundle cables together and toggle multiple features on or off together.

Can you re-use the center (2) buttons to turn on PD and fans?

My car is about the same Dave, no SRS system. I just put electrical tape over the led inside the gauge cluster! works...

If they're momentary switches (have to hold to close the circuit, like the start button) it may not work. I think you need an on/off SPST switch.

But as for PD being in there. Under techstream description says that it disables VSC and TC if no switch is available. So im sure it was somewhat intended but not "officially" there haha.

@soundman98

Any update on the ABS disable?
