Yeah it's intense but actually quite fun. Especially since I have always been into computers and gaming so that combined with flying jets is awesome. Plus it builds your confidence about handling emergencies when you get put through all kinds of shitties and don't get the red screen of death. And it's got hydros, yo!

I have another exciting afternoon. I'm figuring out how to blow down my sprinklers. I think I got it, just need to go to Home Depot and MacGyver up a fitting to connect my compressor to a hose bib.

When I worked for a certain airline based in Atlanta I got the opportunity to fly their 777 simulator when they were initially installing them and running through their paces. It was an absolute blast. The full motion definitely sucks you in.

At the end, when I had managed to actually "land it" "at Hartsfield" (with a lot of help from the pilot nannies I'm sure) the instructor pilot and I were sitting there talking. I looked up and noticed we were "rolling" towards the end of the runway. I had a momentary panic as my mind thought "you're going to wreck a multimillion dollar airplane because you forgot to set the brake, idiot!"

Put winter tires back on. I like how it drive in 17's... but I like the look of 18's... the struggle of function vs form.

I had a similar experience when trying out the C-130 Hercules Sim at the local air base. Worst thing I did was on my last landing the instructor threw a nasty cross wind at me and my car driving senses took over my very limited flight knowledge. Instead of kicking in more right rudder I turned the yoke right as if turning into a skid. Well all heck broke out and there was a real, (I mean everything was shaking) hard crash with sound to match. I looked over at the instructor who said; "Congratulations! You just did your first ground loop and about million and a half in damages." At first I thought I had actually busted the simulator but he couldn't keep a straight face long enough. Then smile started to creep across his face and then I knew it was all part of the program.

Need a little reassurance or maybe input.

I have a 2005 Saab 97x v8 arc. Got a 5.3 Chevy engine 290 up and 4 speed auto with all time awd. It's an suv that tows my car and trailer pretty well (7700 lb towing cap) and moves people. I've road tripped it down the coast from Seattle to San Diego and put maybe 35k miles on it over 4 years (dual car single driver Navy.. I don't put any miles on cars.) and I own the pig
But lately she's starting to have issues oil leaking from trans and engine oil pan. Faulty oil pressure sending unit. And I think the front wheel bearings are gonna need changing. She's bee. Up to date with maintenance and I had the 125k main done when I got here in 2017. But she's starting to show her age.

Been looking at mid-size pickups and seeing those desert runner frontiers for around 16k makes me happy
Now the frontier had a smaller engine. Smaller wheelbase 6100 lb towing capacity and 5 speed auto (260 hp) and its way less luxurious. (remember the Saab is a mid size luxury suv. Was like 60k new)
But it's more simple and the frontier being an open bed means I feel less bad about hauling stuff around. I'd hey the extended cab cause I don't need rear seats but I'm open to a crew cab.

Should it be worth getting into a little bit more debt (about 15k owed in my Frs but payments are manageable I got about a 600 buck monthly fluidity here) to get a newer truck or possibly new new with warrenty and fresh mileage?
I know the Saab is a good un but between the oil leaks and the other maint it's about 5 grand to get it all up to snuff and the thing cost me 6400 back in 2015. I think I could weasel 2 on trade in.

What do you guys think? Lately the necceskty for me to own a towing vehicle has gone down. The frs drove itself to Buttonwillow and back no issues and it put into perspective that I don't need something as big as my suv...

Sell it all but the FR-S. Put on a hitch and get a little trailer for the FRS.

The Saab may have several 5k repairs in waiting. How much are you going to do yourself?

Frontiers are crappy trucks. You could lease a Tacoma or 4Runner for surprisingly cheap.

To me the price of a socal Tacoma trumps any "crappiness" a frontier would have over it. If I looked at 4runners I'd not be looking cause my Saab does everything better outside off-road approach angle and tire sizing. And I'm not huge on offorading.
For the Saab tires and brakes and wheel bearing aincan do. The oil pan would require a lift and dropping front subframe to get the front diff out.

Shit. I was in the backyard when the fedex guy tried to deliver my new stand mixer. Needs a signiture. I so wanted to bake bread tonight.

Got the grand poobah 575 watt Kitchenaid. Can't wait to play with it. I want the meat grinder, sausage stuffer, and pasta maker attachments.

And I decided no TV now. I need a new tough shed first so I can get everything non-car out of my garage, and start making the garage my auto shop.

But Saabs are cool though. My parents have a 9-7 and are asking themselves the same questions. My dad gets complements on it everywhere he goes. And I mean that literally, I've been there when random people come up to check it out lol. I think that's why he is waffling on getting a newer vehicle.
