I put a black vinyl tape on my badge on the steering wheel and cut it to shape. Makes it harder to see at a distance.

As far as taking the badge off of it, I'd avoid that. I just detonated a steering wheel airbag at work a couple days ago. I can say that the emblem is definitely plastic welded and what not in there nicely. My guess is if you were to try it, you'd probably tear the cover at the tear sections.

I think I'm going to go for the plastidip solution as well. The emblem is part of the airbag assembly so unless you just grind it down (without overheating the material) there isn't much you can do outside of replacing the bag.

lol That was my thought as well. I just had the tape and an exacto knife on hand so I figured, what the hell. Why not?

Post some pics if you go the plastic-dip route though. Would love to see the results.

I just finished it. It looks half assed but possibly better than the Scion logo. I might need another hour or so for overspray cleanup as I am also "working".

Of all the things to spend 600-800 bucks on!

Think about what you can do to your aesthetically car for that same cost:

1) Clear corners
2) Tint
3) Front/Rear Toyota Badges
4) Shark Fin Antenna
5) Non-altezza tails (*when they become available)

There's another way to think about this. Suppose, instead of trying to remove the steering wheel badge, you overlaid the badge with something like a simple gloss black cover, slightly domed. There must be lots of variations on this theme... take your pick. For DIYer's, one might fill in the badge with a plastic-like compound, sand to shape, and then mask and spray. Or use an appliqué of something...

The only worry I would have with that is in the unfortunate case of airbag deployment. Should that material come off, there would be a chance of that stuff becoming a potentionally harmful projectile. I've seen them launch something through a windshield.

There is actually no point it doing this, you bought a FR-S, its a FR-S not a toyota 86.

Just complain and maybe...just maybe Scion will change the airbag cover in 2014 to a 86 one.

If you are going to change the airbag cover, and remove the scion logos in the front and rear, then you need to change side 86 logos to the ones on the 86 too...

The Scion symbol is no worst the the toyota symbol.

Just saying....this ain't worth spending the $600 to $800 to change out..

Hmmmm good call, although it should be plastic glued because of how plastic bonds to other plastic so well.

Take it with a grain of salt but this is what I did, good chance it'll be covered with something else or once the price drops I'll swap or buy a Toyotoa airbag.
