Buy this kit, take it to local tuner (Jtran Studio for me I guess?), have them install and work up the ECU tune? I see most tuning shops also offer their own forced induction options as well. Would this be an insult to them to take this AP kit developed by another tuning shop to them for installation? Just looking for guidance on proper protocal. Thanks!
All you will be buying from me is the turbo kit itself. I would recommend just buying the software and tune from John to make things simple.

I install other shops parts all the time. Its not an insult. Its quite normal.

I think the guys in California just want to make sure that when we pull the turbo off every 2 years that we can flash back the ecu then re-flash it 2 days later without getting re tune charges every time. I think its a fair question.

There is no problem finding a Tuner in SoCal,

I moonlight at a Dyno, a friends shop that I help with R&D for.

We could easily setup a tune by E-mail for any software that we don't already have a tuner for, but let's not forget SoCal is the hotbed of performance aftermarket, by the time Don is ready to ship his kits there will be atleast a couple ECU options on the table, and Tuners familiar with them in SoCal.

Yeah I got to take my supercharger off every other year. If the turbo was not such a pain I would have done that instead. I have a stand alone ecu to swap out as well.

Will you be keeping 4 psi for the safe/DD build or see if you can go to 5 or 6?

I'm also a Cobb ProTuner, if and when Cobb releases the AP for the BRZ I will have a calibrations made up and available for Don's turbo kit.

Don't think this will happen next week. I give it 6-12 months before we see anything from them.

Currently EcuTek is the only available solution that gives the tuner the control he needs to properly calibrate the car with both direct and port injection.

Normally all EcuTek tunes are sold with the EcuTek ProECU cable so you can update the flash, datalog or flash back to stock whenever you want.

I've been lucky enough to do a bunch of R&D on shop cars, so when the time comes for your tune you won't have to worry about me practicing or guessing.

If turn key doesn't interest you I'm sure another local tuner can tune the car for you.

John

I myself would love a turn key flash and back flash capabilities. Do you have ball park price? It does not have to be written in stone, guestament will do fine.

I was hoping it would be less than 5... 2 seems a bit of a pipe dream, but hey, I'd take 2k.

My point was more that Don probably has zero idea right now to even guess. I'm sure he has the parts costs, but he also has to recover his R&D time/expenses, that takes some effort/math to ballpark what he needs his margins to be on the kits.

John's tuning is priced by John as well, although a 'turnkey' solution would be ideal for many so hopefully they'll package them together. The other option of course is buying the parts and finding a local tuner to tune the car instead but I'd venture a guess that many would be happy enough with a safe tune that can be refined via datalogging and emailing back and forth with John until it's dialed in.

Judging by the dozens of rave magazine reviews of this car, 220whp already sounds amazing. Shaping up to be one of the ultimate drivers' cars.
