Component speaker installer?
So I'm looking for an installer to run my component speakers - would prefer someone who has worked on this car before (or someone with extensive audio installation experience).
I tried to run the wires myself, but failed miserably...I couldn't get the wires from the door into the top of the dash |

Wait wut?
Why would you.......? Never mind. Good thing you tapped out. No one runs wires back up to the dash. As for a car audio install, google any car audio shop. These cars are are nothing special to work on. Any joe blow that has acces to YouTube can install car audio. Well, besides you apparently.

He's installing the passive crossovers in the doors.
No matter, it's impossible to get wire through the oem door boots, you just need to zip tie to it.

It's really not hard to get speaker wires through the doors. A couple of things you need to do it: a long (2 ft) zip tie and silicone lubricant spray (or whatever kind you prefer). Spray the lube on the zip tie and fish it through the loom. Attach the wire to the zip tie (i used duck tape), spray it again and pull it through. If you have trouble doing this then just pop the loom off on the door side and the wire should go through easier.
If you prefer taking it to a shpo, I recommend Driven Mobile Electronics in Chantilly. Ask for Chris. |

between the taped loom on both ends, and the overall size, i can tell you definitively that a 12 gauge 2 conductor doesn't fit.

I can’t speak for that size wire. I used 16 garage wire. Not sure why you’d need 12 gauge in the door, though, seems like overkill Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

16 is for wimps. i don't use smaller than 14 in any of my builds.
i ran 8ga for my sub. that was fun to fish through the interior. anything over 14 is slightly overkill, but after comparing 18 and 14 side-by-side on the same speakers, i could hear a difference in the clarity of the bass, so i do 12 to ensure that i'm not loosing anything.

Fair enough. I can imagine doing 8 gauge for a sub. It was fun running 0 gauge to the trunk for my system Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
