It's not for us. It's for China and Russia.

Why does Nissan even need to do this? Why don't they just rebadge the Megane RS? One hot hatch, to go. They already own the platform.

"Instead, it's a compact, front-drive-based sports car that will be aimed squarely at the Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ."
If they try to compete with the FT86 by bringing out a FWD car.. I'll turn in my Nissan Fan Card and never look back. What a bunch of retards |

Anything not RWD is not a BRZ competitor, technically. A lighter and smaller Z should be their strategy for that platform anyway...so I don't see either article's theoretical Nissan vehicle as a BRZ/FR-S competitor unless they drop the price of the Z substantially.

I agree with all of you. I think the article's writer is making some serious assumptions. It doesn't sound or look like a FRS/BRZ competitor. More like a Mazda 3, Chevy sonic, Ford Fiesta, and Veloster competitor.

Nissan working on Subaru BRZ competitor
First thread on here and hope this isnt a duplicate post:
A lighter generation Z sports car is not the only priority in Nissan’s future. Inspired by the huge success of their GT-R, the company has decided to bring out a small sports car which will take on models like the newly released Subaru BRZ. Internally known as the Mini-Z, the new sports car won’t be offered with a rear-wheel-drive system like the Silvia/240SX - that project was cancelled in late 2008 because of the financial crisis. Instead Nissan will use a front-wheel-drive system combined with 1.6-liter turbo-four from the Nissan Juke with power raised to about 200 HP. To get an idea of what the future small sports car will look like, take a look at the Compact Sports Concept (pictured) unveiled last year at the Shanghai Motor Show. These design elements will be combined with elements taken from the Z sports car to more or less make up the new car’s dimensions. The new Nissan sports car will arrive in late 2013 and will be priced at about $22K. http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-new...-ar132554.html Update- 2nd rendering via MotorTrend: http://www.motortrend.com/future/fut...arget_frs_brz/ ![]() Last edited by Tman08; 07-23-2012 at 02:05 PM. There is a thread on this in the off-topic section.
Still, to this point. Motor Trend also did an article on this new "mini-z". They have some conflicting statements.. I read something about it being targetted at Asian markets. Still, I'll say the same thing here as I've said elsewhere.. If they try to compete in the BRZ/FRS segment (low-end rwd coupe) with a FWD platform.. they will fail miserably!!! I hope they are not that stupid. |
