Septic. OK, I'd suggest to look on the city/county web site and read up on the "care and feeding" of a septic system. Also, there should be a record filed at the county showing the leaching fields. Their presence are good to know so when you put that in-ground retirement swimming pool in your back yard, you don't dig them up -

Yep, just take a hammer and pound on the ring with ears on it, clockwise, till it feels tight -

On that note, I replaced the old Brondell with a new Toto. Haven't tested it out yet, though.

We're pumping our shit every five years, give or take. I got a clean bill o health from the shit pumpers last I saw them, and that was at about the six year mark. I think we're just careful not to put anything down the drain that doesn't have to go down the drain. Other than that, septic systems should take care of themselves until a pump breaks, if that's the kind of system you have.

PS - I hope you didn't run across this fellow when you crossed back across the border, with your California plates and all. They are looking for "pot runners" -
Just woke from my nap.

I've had Idaho plates on the trucks for weeks now.

We did pick up a couple things at Wal-Mart and did notice the lack of sales tax.

We just drove by the pot store, didn't stop. It looked pretty crowded. It was a big deal in our Idaho paper when the one in Ontario opened. Before that, "the people of Treasure Valley had to drive all the way to Huntington.. "

I grew up having to take care of a big in ground swimming pool. That is the last thing I want. But you are right, it would be nice to know where the field is. No one could tell me where it or the tank is. If the guy coming Tuesday can't visually locate the tank, I will have to pay $150 for him to flush a locator beacon, or "shit seeker".

Just keep flushing the toilet continuously for a coupe of hours. You will find it fast.

Or more realistically get as high up as you can and look for the greenest section of lawn. Can't always see it form ground level but it may show up clear as day from above.

Here in Ontario, (Canada) when you purchase a country property the seller is responsible for filling the oil and/or propane tanks as well as pumping out the septic tank. There should be a recent (within 10 years) survey showing the lot lines, the house and any under ground pipes, fixtures and cables. This must be verified by the buyers lawyer before the deal can close. The one exception is if you buy "as is" with no conditions.

I'm dealing with a septic issue myself right now. It appears the last three times we've had the tank pumped they only removed one cover. The second cover was part way under a concrete walk so they never tried to remove it. I had the walkway busted up and the tank cleaned last week. Unfortunately the out flow pipe seems to be plugged. The crew who were here thinks it's either been crushed or plugged by roots. There are two giant trees either side of where the pipe exits the tank not to mention an over grown bush right on top of it. Tomorrow I get out the chain saw and remove the bush. Then, start digging to find the pipe.
