static offset on stock body
hi guys, i’m trying to get my 86 to be more static and i’m having a hard time trying to get information on wheel specs n such. i’m tryna see if i can run BC extreme low coilovers with 10 inch wheels in the rear and 9.5 front with 225/35/18’s all around with lower control arms but not sure which ones to get, i was thinking of just getting SPC’s for that toe adjustment, and what offset would be best for camber for the front and rear? i see people having like super deep dish rims and i just dunno pls help!

Most people in this section of the forum are interested in improving the performance of the car, not wrecking it. Wheel and Tire and Suspension is where you want to be.

I don't think he's even using the term correctly. How do you get more static than stock?
Does he want to be more static than static? Is that like more human than human? Is Philip K. Dïck rolling in his grave by now? Ice Road Truckers? |

An explanation for the old guys from some dude on the internet:
"stance is a broad term for lowering your car and fitting wide wheels that fill up the wheel wells. Static is a form of stance where the car is lowered via static suspension components such as coilovers. While coilovers are adjustable they cant be adjusted without lifting the car and spending 30 minutes with a wrench. Static means the caris stuck at that ride height. The opposite to this is bagged cars which use airbags similar to the hydraulics on lowriders. These can be easily raised or lowered with a switch at an instants notice. Typically the static folks like to think they are more hardcore or dedicated because they arent afraid of destroying their carevery time a speed bump comes. The bagged guys are viewed as semi cheating since they can put the car at any ride height they want and if they park super low its not a badge of honor that they drive that low like a static dude. I think the whole phenomenon is stupid with a special emphasis on how dumb static cars are." An example from the old days. Hey old guys, you do remember at least one of these in your neighborhood (county) ?? humfrz |

You’re gunna want that offset well into the -20’s or even -30’s.
Alternatively, you could be not lazy and do your own math to figure out how many offsets you need to make your car useless. |

i'm completely lost in this thread.
static is how i used to shock my sister after i'd scrub my socks on the carpet. IRT is the sound windshield wipers make as they move across dry glass. i have no clue what either of these things have to do with lowering a car.

Then they would heat the front coil springs until the front part of the frame would rest on the cross member. If that didn't get the front low enough, one would simple cut some of the coils out of the springs. Back then, we didn't call it "static", we called it "stupid". ![]() humfrz |
