Ok, I'm pretty much 100% certain now that you don't want to show us a picture, because doing so would prove that we were right all along and you have been mistreating your seat. And not only that, you won't even explain in detail exactly how the seat is wearing. Is it the stitching coming loose? The fabric having holes or fading in color? And when exactly did the seat start to wear? You mentioned the mileage but you made it seem like it happened all of a sudden, like one day it was fine, the next it was a disaster.

You're deliberately refraining from mentioning how you treated the seat, because most likely you were rough with it or had the bad habit of sliding into it like another user said, and now because we caught on to it you're having a hissy fit. We are all willing to help anyone with any problem as long as they be reasonable and tell us all the details from every angle they can give us. If you're going to purposefully withhold information and then get pissy at us afterward, then you don't know how things work here.

I haven't said anything on this tread, but agree with others that a picture is a reasonable request. When some say they have a paint issue for example, members here ask for a picture to better see the problem. It allows a better ability to deduce possible causes. Members here can be very no nonsense and direct. It may even come off rude, but much of what had been said it's valid in my opinion.

I can add that the fabric on these seats are relatively thin but mine still look pristine. Your method of ingres/egress will be a huge factor on long term wear and tear.

I didn't withhold info. I explained on the first page that the fabric is faded looking, and that the nap, or grain of the fabric has a definite worn look in all spots where I make contact with the seat. I clearly stated that I am not abusing the seat. Believe it or not, whatever you want. I took about 20 iPhone photos that do not represent well what can be seen with the naked eye. I am not at all interested in photography and therefore don't have a better method than my iphone to post an electronic photo. I have simply given up on the topic. Thanks so much for your input. By the way, every aspect of my car is very clean, with the exception of the two scrapes under the front lip from when the car was new, and the seat. You can claim I abuse the seat and that you are on to me having never actually seen my seat, so you have solved the issue. Again, thanks.

They got burned once before, and now she cannot be bothered to even come take a look. And then Toyota's customer service wants me to go back to her to have her make a determination? Are you for real considering that a dealer problem? Even if I drug my ass in and out covered in sweat, that would be dirty, not worn the eff out. Even the service writer said it was unusual wear. And 2years and 11 months with 31000 miles is hardly old. I drive 20 miles round trip per day to work. I haven't gotten in and out enough times for this kind of wear. I had a 1996 Nissan pickup that I drove for 17 years straight, that had cloth seats that looks brand new the day I sold it. You have exceptionally low expectations for your money, huh? And also, I remember a Toyota in the 80s and 90s who backed their products unquestionably. They are suffering from General Motors disease. They believe they are too big to fail. They have a humongous facility they built in Mississippi that sits useless because of that attitude. Even General Motors will replace carpet and upholstery if it wears too quickly. Yes, to be clear, Toyota is disappointing. I will not be considering a Toyota product for my wife's new vehicle. She by the way drives a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder that has 195500 miles and the seats look really good. My less than 12000 miles a year little car has an ugly drivers seat due to wear (and stupid red wings). They covered it with a black t shirt. Yup, Toyota is disappointing. I will upgrade to leather in my future, but sooner rather than later. Wasn't planning on having to do it before the worthless warranty ran out though. If it wasn't this car (rear wheel drive lightweight fun mobile), I wouldn't even have considered the thing in the first place. Stupid scion didn't even offer us a better upholstery option. Now they are dead. Toyota really did their homework on that great idea huh? Toyota is disappointing!!!
Last time I checked the Mississippi plant was cranking out a lot of vehicles every day.

Believing any dealer when they say they got "burned" by Toyota is kinda silly on your part. Dealers know what is and isn't covered. Wear on the interior is not and never has been covered by any manufacturer unless it was a factory defect.

Try another dealer and I'm sure they'll say the same thing.

At least you didn't pay $1500 like I did in my Mustang GT for Recaro cloth seats that started to fray after 500 miles. Material was literally garbage.

Keep in mind the type of clothes you wear can tear up seats quickly. Cargo pants with exposed velcro, buttons on jeans or jackets, belt digging into the seat, etc. Not saying that happened, but I've seen it happen.

Hi Folks, just noticed this today. 30000 miles on my 2015 FRS. Is this a warranty issue? I talked to the service manager at my dealership. He took pictures and is going to check on it for me. What's your thoughts? By the way, I did a search for upholstery wear and this thread came up. I'm not the original poster, and I'm not disappointed in Toyota. Also, I'm 5 foot 10 inches tall and 159 pounds. Just trying to cover the bases here. Do you think that this seat should be wearing like this? Sorry about the orientation of the photo. This is the driver's seat outside bolster door side. Thanks in advance! Name: seat wear.jpg

Mine looks just like that. A black Sharpie and some shoe polish will cover it right up.

my seat is wearing out exactly like that and as suggested I too got a marker to color in the leather part and I steamed cleaned the cloth to get rid of the wrinkles. Still looks great should last another 4 years easily..

I worry about the thin cloth on the bolster.
Anyone take any measures to protect the cloth?
Any alternative to a seat cover?
I'm tempted to put some kind of tape over it even

Ok, so far the responses are:

1:touch it up with a black sharpie

2: live with it or park it

and my favorite:

3:totaled

Seriously, I always laugh out loud when someone on the forum asks advice on what they should do when they have a door ding, bug splatter, other minor problem and the response is "totaled".

That's why I love this forum.

I've been on the planet for 65 years now, and I've bought plenty of new cars, and really, I've never seen wear like this on a driver's seat in such a short time and in so few miles.

I take that back, way back in 1976, I bought a brand new Fiat X1/9. It was the fanciest new car I had ever purchased. It had factory air conditioning! The targa top came off and stowed in the front cargo area. I was working as a fast food manager for a national chain of hamburger joints, and there was a local parade, so I took off the top, and my assistant manager donned a Hamburger Hungry suit and stood up on the passenger seat of my fairly new sports car. We were positioned behind the elephant in the parade. While I was trying to drive behind this huge animal, working the clutch and trying not to overheat the engine, (and drive around all the circus animal crap in the road), my assistant manager was throwing out candy and coupons to the kids by the side of the road. At the end of the day, my fairly new passenger seat was completely torn apart - seams ripped and foam padding bulging through. So, I guess, that seat died sooner than this driver's seat.

By the way, if any of you old guys can name the national chain that had Hamburger Hungry as the spokesperson, you will win a free beer from me if you ever get up here to the frozen north.

Anyway, the service manager said he would talk to Toyota and find out if there can be anything done - I'm thinking that, at best, I might get a discount on a new seat cover.

My purpose of this post was pretty much to see if anyone else experienced this wearing of the driver's seat in such a short time.

Thanks again, and thanks for letting me walk down memory lane....

and letting me drag all of you along with me!
