I can understand that. If it's the art style, then there's definitely no getting around that. If it's the quirks, I will say both the shows I'm talking about were some of the least "anime" anime I've ever watched. All the quirks and normal tropes are almost non-existence. I watch a lot so I'm very familiar with the in's and out's and it's always disappointing to watch an amazing show, but know I can't recommend it to anyone because it suffers from anime weirdness that, while sometimes minimal, something I can easily gloss over, might be glaring to a non-fan.
