And that lower pulley isn't just a pulley, that's the water pump.

Is that the part number 21110aa960? If it is I got it replaced along with the water pump gasket. Maybe I was just hearing things with the stethoscope. I’m going to take it into a shop sometime this month if I don’t get the chance to remove the belt and test.

Honestly I’m mostly hearing the typical injector noise in that video... maybe a bit of valve noise too. Has your car been in for the valve spring recall yet?

It’s been swapped with an 86 engine. No recalls on it according to the VIN. Haven’t had the chance to take out the belt yet so fingers crossed

That sound may be coming from a bearing (idler, alternator, compressor). Can you isolate it with a stethoscope type rig?

I believe I found the source of the noise!

I think you have found a noisy bearing fer sure.

Bubba says to take it off and pack it with bearing grease.

humfrz suggests just to replace it.

As a temporary fix, is Mobil 1 synthetic grease good enough? I gotta order the parts online and it’s going to take a week and the parts department hasn’t gotten back to me

You can't add grease to that bearing. You will probably be fine waiting a week for the part.

Worst case the bearing completely seizes and your belt shreds. Not the most likely of cases, however.

Excuse my ignorance, but why can’t I add grease?

The bearing is sealed and not meant for servicing. There really is no way to get grease in the part that does the work.

I didn't mean to be clouds and rainstorms about belt shred, but that is worst case. In all likelihood you will be fine waiting for new part.

Are you talking about a whirring sound, or the clack-clack sound? I hear a nasty valve sound.

The clacking sound. I checked the pulley, and it was making clacking sounds as I spinned it. Are there any vids of valve noises? I’m slightly concerned now

I'm with you, pulleys get really loose before they get noisy, usually a clack, clack.....clack clack clack.........clack....clack clack...clack clack clack. And so on.

Clicking that regular sounds like valve train to me. Also sounds "wet", bearings are dry.

Tons of videos. I get what you're saying about the pulley but the error was in not taking the periodicity of the clack. Even when idling, that pulley spins way faster than you could spin it.

It is a bad sound. I feel like I would have it towed rather than drive it.
