Where to put this bloody phone?
Hi all,
So I have recently become the proud owner of an 86 and am so far loving everything about this car except for the fact that I can't seem to find a good place to stash my phone while driving. I have a galaxy s8 which is WAY to big for that itty bitty pocket in the counsel bellow the temp controls. I could throw it in the glove box or leave it in my pocket while driving, but that doesn't really help if I want to glance over at the screen when using GPS. I was wondering if anyone has found an off-the-shelf phone holder they liked or created their own as well as where you ended up mounting it. Thanks all! |

I connect bluetooth, and then drop it on the passenger seat. I rarely ever look at it after that.

You bought the wrong car.
A nice Civic SI has every mod under the sun even Tuner brand phone holders. So sell your current pos 86 and get the more powerful Civic SI. If you want more power Type R.

![]() My old phone fits (slanted) in that pocket below the controls. I do have a aftermarket head unit with a screen for navigation. If you wish to glance at your phone's screen while driving, their are hundreds of aftermarket holders out there - just pick one - ![]() Pay not much nevermind to those two smarty-asses up above - ![]() humfrz |

![]() I'm (not) joking humfrz... . ![]() Clearly it's hard to realize you bought the wrong car, and it's a huge pain in the butt returning a car, but what is more important? Having a car where you can't even mount a cell phone? Or having a car that was built around a smart phone? Did I mention the new Civics Si have Apple Car Play and Android?

In the glove box, at an angle in the center console like Mr Humfrz said, door pocket, gym back on passenger seat, gym bag on back seat, gym bag in boot, Mrs handbag if I'm lucky.
A phone will sit on the intake plenum for a while too, if you forget it's there that is. (I was using the phone torch to look at something, and forgot about it, until the phone rang, I looked at the in-dash screen, I looked where the phone usually sits, at a angle in the center console, I then slowly pulled over and removed the phone from under the bonnet, yes I was explaining this to my Mrs as I was doing it, it was her that rang me).

I had the s7, I currently have the s9+. I can stand it vertically wedged between the modular cup holder, and the front of the cubby. It will stay there, but you'll need to finesse it to avoid it holding down the power or Bixby button. Usually my phone stays on the passenger seat on mute.

I have a Pixel 2 XL, and usually just slip it in the driver's side bottle holder, fits there very well. I don't use it for navigation though so that works for me. Probably wouldn't work for you if you need it for that.
Georgia is a "no touch" law, which means you can't have your phone in your hand at any time driving, and cannot use the controls on it directly (you can use your headunit controls). There is an exception for NAV if the phone is mounted (you still can't have it in your hand), but not sure how you would prove that is what you were doing.

Kuda 1240 (faux leather) or 1245 (real lether) looks the best to me. You can even mod it with alcantara if your car has the same interior.
