My wife and I are very excited to go cruise/camp on the oregon coast. Every few miles there is a different state campground with nice amenity. We have been tent camping for years, so a van will be sweet!

When I was a young hatchling my parents had friends who also had 3 kids and they a van that looked almost exactly like that. We would take it everywhere. (Eastcoast though mostly NJ/NY/CT/VT/NH) It was funny when my Mom walked in by herself with the 6 of us. People would be like, "Are they ALL yours!?" As we ran amuck around the store.

The more I hear about the real-estate market and just general living circumstances in these areas of California the more I am thankful I didn't move there when given the opportunity in the 80's (had a chance to work with a medical EMR startup in Berkeley, and for Ashton-Tate in it's Dbase II heydays.)

Just not my style of place.

Well, we have access to world class food of every variety. The weather is fantastic most of the year, and not so bad at its very worst. Tons of culture like top museums and theaters. Plenty of nature to visit nearby. I live in a forest. Top jobs available. People from all over the world to talk to.

There's good and bad. Definitely slower, easier lives are available elsewhere. We're thinking of where we'd want to retire, and we've come up with staying in the current home 8 months of the year then leaving for the winter to someplace like Hawaii or Mexico. Partly it's because the micro-climate of our canyon is about 10 degrees colder than the surrounding area.

I wouldn't mind living in NYC, but the weather is only good for small parts of the year.

It has windows. When I was a kid none of the vans I was in had windows.

Nope. I'm socal born and raised. Sure, I skied now and then, but no way in hell am I gonna live anywhere that water freezes and stays frozen for an entire day. I haven't skied since I was in college and I have no intention of ever doing it again. Cold is for polar bears.

In 94552, Dec, Jan, and Feb are cold. The rest of the year is generally hoodie and shorts compatible, at least for me. No snow. Only some rain. A handful of frozen mornings in the heart of winter, and they thaw by noon. Low humidity in general. Then summer is perfectly reasonable. We use AC maybe 2-10 days of the year, and only because why not. It's really not needed at our house

In 10001, NYC, April and May are nice and then September through October, maybe. However, the humidity can be horrible. Summers are too hot and humid. Winters are too cold.

Phili? April, May and October are all you get. I don't know how humid it gets.
