That is the rub. He says she is financing and that makes the car "affordable" and that there is no debt involved.
The fact he wants an expensive car doesn't mean shit. The fact that he totally misses what financing and debt mean does.
It isn't a show of wealth it is the simulation of it.

hum-time:
a few years ago, i was working in a nissan dealer, and there's the newest model year gt-r on a lift, out of state plates on it, the entire front end gutted down to the framerails, with both the motor and transmission on stands. looking inside, it could have easily been mistaken for a homeless persons barely running civic. the interior 'existed' between fast food wrappers and lumps of clothing.

the story went that it was an exchange students car. he ran through a median, up an embankment, landing on a parking curb. they managed hurt almost everything in the front end.

the repair was something like $60k. the family flew into town, and paid the dealer cash to repair it.

in other countries, a lot of well off families believe that having their college student drive high end cars is important. it's a display of family wealth and power. the results aren't exactly easy to prove or disprove either way, and there's plenty of questions about the ethics, reality, and value in such a method. but it's how a lot of people attempt to give their kids a leg up in the world.

That's fair. But OP did say the car couldn't be purchased outright and would be financed. So technically a debt.

OP could have simply stated that they have a BRZ, and asked if we had the option of choosing a ~$200k car, what would we choose? The responses probably would have given them the information they wanted.

So.....your MUM wants you to drive a nice car and now you admit that you want to. So, let me put it this way because you don't get that people on here have been trying help you. You are old enough to be in univercity yet while by that age most males have the mentality of a man. You obviously missed the boat or you were standing in the line that said Mommas boys. You are a hopelessly spoiled idiot that knows that the key to life is MUMS money. Don't you understand that you are probably being laughed at behind your back by your "friends"? I don't know what business you will be in, but I can assure that people who will be paying you can recognize a pitiful Mommas from a mile away. NOBODY respects a Mommas boy.

What color is your doctor's Urus? Saw a white one yesterday in a nearby public parking lot. Same one? From a distance, the thing that grabbed my attention was the red brake calipers--enormous in front and tiny little thing at the back. Weight transfer on braking must be brutal

Naw this one was yellow. But I see one almost every day. Don’t like them very much. Just looks like an Audi
