Also hard not to mention on top of the additional money sacrifice to own a mx5 you get the luxury of having a car that has next to zero practicality for anything except transporting a driver 1 passenger and maybe 2 small backpacks if you really cram.

If you ever have put 4 full size wheels in the back of a twin you can totally appreciate the cargo space which is really good for a small cheap sports car.
I had a NB MX5, space was a joke, 2 small bags was it.

My 86 can fit a huge amount if stuff, 3 good sized bags in the boot and the same in the back seat.

I've had 2 adults and 2 kids plus all the beach and snorkeling gear required for 4 in my 86.

Plus I also have a full sized 17 x 7.5 spare in the boot.

That is odd. Mine requires zero force. Like it’s impossible to lower the lid soft enough for it to not latch. The doors are the same way.

Correct. It’s all math (no sensor). If the clutch is in it knows it’s impossible to know for sure what gear it’s in so the display turns off.

My only complaint with this car is the shit engine sound, dip and the doors that will not stay open. I switched to E85 which makes the dip tolerable. So now it’s just the shit engine sound and doors slamming on my legs. It’s still hands down the funnest car I’ve ever driven. I’ve driven a lot of cars too. For example a 1300whp Ford GT (no not the Mustang GT).

Same here (2013 FR-S).
