Question About Wheel Fitment.

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I'd like to thank everyone who checks out this post and who offers their help in advance.

So let's get straight to the point shall we? I have a Subaru BRZ 2019 Limited with the performance package. I've modded the car quite a bit and now I'm ready to get some new wheels. My car has the brembo brake kit, which somewhat limits my wheel selection, however I really dig the Enkei Raijin and those are the wheels I will end up buying. According to Tirerack 18x8 +45 will clear the brembos, but Enkei claims it has to be 18x8.5 +45 (yes I emailed them), let's assume Enkei is right and it has to be 18x8.5. Will this setup work (squared) stock with no coilovers or spacers or do I need one or the other? Does anyone know if the 18x8 will work too?

Also what do you guys recommend for tires 235-40-R18 or 245-40-R18?

Thanks guys!

- Carlos

It will work, but you're on the fringe of the wheel rubbing at full turn lock on the front strut spring perches. I ran an 8.75 and got a little rub without spacers.

I'd go for a 245/40 simply for tire availability.

You may want to let people know what your intend to get out of your car, as you mentioned it's modified.

Try using a tire calculator. https://tiresize.com/calculator/

Personally if you could get away with the 18x8 I'd go for that and put on 225/40/18.

So the offset matters a lot for if the tire is going to touch the stock strut, but if you're only running 18x8.5s you should be fine either way. Personally, I would probably run a 235/40 and I doubt you'd have any issues. Even a 225 would be fine honestly.

On my car as of right now I have 18x9.5 +38 Rays (wide AF) with 245/35s and there is zero rubbing and it clears the stock strut. Tires are not stretched either. I'm going to get coilovers anyways to drop it an inch and a half because I like almost zero wheel gap, but it works on the stock setup for no with no issues. I also have the performance pack Brembos (good choice lol)

I'm running 18X8.5+35 square for two weeks now and the fitment is perfect. No clearance issues inside and out. The car is dropped on TRD spings (Eibach pro kit) on stock struts. I just got camber bolts in front for better cornering (1.2) and I'll have plenty of space for a big brake kit down the road.

I'm using 235/40 all around and even if it's a little bit bigger than stock diameter, it helps closing the fender gap just a little (about 4mm) and the car doesn't fell sluggish (not more than stock).

To my knowledge, 245/40 is to big, you should go with 245/35 if you want to stay closer to the stock diameter.

The offset is what matters most and the "wheel it fit" thing was a bless for me when I was shopping for mine, you should try it...
