Header/Exhaust combo power difference?
I think i need to re-phrase my question.
Which headers, based on engine size and HP, would be the best fit for a 2015 FRS for max HP gains, with adding an exhaust and a tune afterwards? (I am reading through previous posts, not just bypassing information) __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ___________ We all know that different headers and or exhausts, and combos of, will create different sounds. I'm having a difficult time finding if any combo of each will produce more or less HP than another combo. Does it matter and they all basically produce the same power and only the sound and visual is different? I want more HP gains over the importance of how it sounds. Currently I like these: Borla UEL Header/Magna Flow Exhaust, Borla UEL Header/Berk Exhaust (don't know a lot about Berk though). I'm also liking the Invidia R400 catback or the Tomei Type 60-s (although i like the 2 pipe look better). Note: I do not plan on super charger/turbo or E85 conversion. Spend a few hours on YouTube searching "BRZ catback"
Exhaust is like underwear - it's something only you can decide fits and feels comfortable for you. Different styles appeal to different people. I run a stock catback and think it sounds great. Others need 3" straight pipe to feel happy. Some people (like me) prefer single exit, some like dual, or quad. Browse ft86speedfactory http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/exha...-backs-72.html , then YouTube the exhausts you like. |

Catless headers will all be within a few HP of each other. I'm partial to JDL's offerings. They have a new 4-2-1 EL header that seems to be doing quite well. Personally, I've used a JDL UEL header for several years and have no complaints. Previously dynoed at 203whp on E85. Currently around 192whp on 92 octane.

As far as power goes I think the Ace A350 header still holds the crown. Although JDL's new 4-2-1 looks promising. After the header there isnt much to be gained performance wise. Mostly comes down to personal preference but Perrin released a blog showing 3" had some power gains over 2.5"
https://www.perrin.com/blog/post/3-0...d-stage-3-tune JDL still sells their uel header. I believe they can custom make the collector 3" if you ask for it |
