I’m assuming you mean UHP summer tire other wise your comment would make no sense. As the two tires i commented are both UHP all season tires.

Seattle rains atleast twice as often as pretty much everywhere.

Header, catback, tune, mild lowering springs, 17"x8" LW wheels, 245/40 sticky tires some strategic bushings and it's a poor man's Porsche. I absolutely love mine. Cheap and fun. Good looks are just a bonus. Gotta love RWD manual coupes that can take a beating.

If you've got the money for a new BRZ + $10k for mods you may want to look at a used Porsche Cayman S. That's pretty much were I'm at with my lease ending later this year. All the handling of the twins plus real power.

+higher insurance & running costs, and what matters to me more - especially tracking expenses. It's not just about initial purchase cost.

Been thinking about getting 245 pilot sports, rains way too often to be running summer tires though.

There is a massive difference between all season and summer tires. They make all out summer tires that can handle rain just as well as all seasons. If you want all out grip there is no reason to not be on summer tires.

Sorry, I misspoke, I run extreme perf tires which are only in Sumer form. I’m currently on the 615K+. I’ve run extreme perf tires exclusively on all my cars for 25 years and never had a problem in rain in Florida. Who cares how often it rains. Rain is rain. I think you would be surprised how well sumer tires work in the “summer”.

It depends what you want to sacrifice. A new car will always be a new car. A used car no matter how much better, will need more maintenance and to change parts sooner or even from day one.

Ok i too misspoke,

Seattle area rains more frequently then just about everywhere AND the avg annual temp here is in the low 50s, we get about 4 months a year that avg 60+
So yes summer tires can be good in rain (obviously it rains in summer) but in Florida compared to Washington your average temperature is probably 20+ degrees, a lot warmer where summer tires have maximum performance but don't do so well in colder weather. I would love to run summer tires but not many people do around here unless they have dedicated summer and dedicated winter tires they can swap every 6 months.

Here in Canada we run winter tires for like 7 months and summer tires for 5 months.

You also get a lot more snow so an all season would be horrible. We get snow one week a year, our winters aren’t terrible are summers aren’t great. Kind of a more mellow temperature between 40-60 majority of the year but with mild rain showers every other day.
If it was 15 degrees warmer we could run summers all year, if it snowed more we could justify a winter set and then get a summer set to pair with.

Isn't a 245 section a tad wide for a 8" wheel?
I have 8" wheels and 225's seem about perfect. I'd run 235/40 but the cost jumps up.

How do you like the 615k+?
I was set on those until I found the Indy 500's. The indys seem like a good compromise for primarily street use.

Look on tire rack. They look a lot better than my 225s I have now.. only downside is weight and cost.
