Really need Help/Advice to Fix this Exhaust Leak..
So just recently I installed a HKS Front pipe to my exhaust set up.. And the front pipe is leaking despite using grimspeed gaskets, redoing it 3 times and then sending it to a shop and it’s still leaking... Leak is located where the frontpipe meets the overpipe.
During cold start is the time when it releases a little bit of exhaust fluids and then all of a sudden it stop.. but you still hear the air escaping Faintly at idle and mostly when driving it around when the sound rebounds off something. Some ppl told me double gasket on it somebody else said use gasket sealer with the grimspeed gasket also in there. I’m seriously looking for your guys help/advice on what I should do next. Thank you I appreciate it! Last edited by juniorrr; 04-10-2019 at 01:48 AM. |

Get a new exhaust. I've had the same issue and it did get better with another exhaust. Maybe someone will have a better answer.

New Exhaust o.O I have a Perrin Resonated 2.5 CBE. It’s a really really good CBE A lot of R&D was put into and plus it cost me like 1.1k How would that fix it though? The exhaust leak is where the front pipe meets the Overpipe.

If it's so good why is it leaking?
Was just a suggestion in case it wasn't great. Fixed my issues but I did have a cheap exhaust sooo. I considered double gasket but didnt seem like it would work. Maybe try it. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

You need to reread my post... It’s my Front Pipe to the Overpipe that’s Leaking not the CBE. I just got a new front pipe. But yeah I’m wondering if any one has anything they’ve tried to fix this issue

I'd suggest you take it to another muffler shop, tell them you have an exhaust leak and have them fix it, even if they have to weld it. humfrz |

Check the flanges to make sure they are flat and not warped. They may need some touch up to get them to seal.

You could try threadlocker if you haven't. I haven't yet, but my bolts seem to be fairly loose every time I take em apart, coming off the headers.
Unless someone has a reason not to... Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

A crack or mating surfaces that aren't flat or square. I have a Borla EL that has been rewelded and reworked many times by previous owners. It finally cracked on me. Aftermarket stuff is often shit.

There is enough play in the system that grinding it smooth will not make it too short. I am with the other guys that say there is a flange issue and if it was as bad as you say the gasket will not make up for it. Pull it and clean it up is the best. Sealant placed on top will just blow out. Believe me I have done it enough times with "classic" cars.

The exhaust is on rubbery hangars that can move several inches in different directions. There will be absolutely no issue with grinding.
