Something similar happens to me but only after I start driving right after cold start (not letting the car warm up) and on very cold days. I will be in 1st and the car feels like it bounces. Clutch is fully engaged. Goes away after a few minutes of driving though. I don't pay attention to it anymore really.

This is kangarooing and is a characteristic of our cars, especially till the engine warms up on very cold days. Does not quite happen in summers, right?

This is common for BRZs? I usually let the car idle during cold startup until the rpm drops from 1.5k to around 1k rpm before I start driving. I usually have to hold the clutch in 1st for more than 3 seconds to avoid “kangarooing”. I might also have a lead foot and am not delicate enough with adding a smidge of gas... usually overstep the pedal and bringing the rpm to 2.5k...

Easy fix. Press the pedal farthest to the right more.

Yes it is. Changing gears is one example but it happens even if you ease the throttle at any gear, when the engine is cold. For the first km or so after starting, then it gets normal. I guess its engine coming upto working temperature.
