My 1st ring my father was to mount the diamonds in a setting he specially ordered for me. He was learning a new trade. The ring wasn't ready on time so he gave me his to wear until he completed mine. I worn his for almost a year. When I lost the main diamond in mine I worn his again until mine was repaired. (another year) I changed from an office job to a factory job so the wife bought me a 2nd ring. This time an engraved gold band that would take the rough life of working in a metal shop. My father passed away in September of 1980 and his wedding ring was buried with him. My fingers grew and the engraved band could only be enlarged by a half size. So on days when my fingers would swell I'd put it in my pocket. One day in the 90's as I was walking through the local mall I heard a faint tinkle. I thought; "Hey, I should know that sound." But thought no more about it for several days. Then the day came when I realized I couldn't find my ring. I went back to the mall to report it missing but it was never turned in. So, back to wearing my 1st diamond wedding ring. But it too was tight so I started leaving it in it's case on my dresser on days it would not fit. As I drove up to my house on a Friday after work, the beginning of a Labour Day long weekend, I saw the garage door looking to be part way open. Upon closer inspection it was clear that a crowbar had been used to peel back the corner of the door. We had been ROBBED! Insurance didn't cover much as we hadn't paid for individual itemized lists. It was several years before my wife bought me my 3rd wedding ring. This time a heavily engraved white and yellow gold band. I loved this ring, it's weight, it's looks and most of all it's fit! I have no idea when or where or for how long it was missing but it too disappeared. I had it less than ten years. Then, about three years ago a well know jewelry chain here in Ontario went out of business. The wife bought me a new ring, yellow gold with white gold inset hugging two small diamonds. I wore it everyday when I was working. Since being terminated I only wear jewelry and a watch if I go out. So, four rings in 45 years. Stay tuned, next time I'll go through how many sets and individual engagement and wedding rings my wife has/had.

Yep, those are the exact ones I wear. If I buy ones that are any more expensive I lose or break them within a month. I've had pairs of these that lasted 5 years or more, until I've scratched them up enough I have to replace them. Only ever broken one pair.

My wife still has the first set I gave her 38 years ago. They were my great grandmother's from 1912 so she had better not lose them! They are both very simple but her other 20 or so rings make up for them.

The wheel/tire package I ordered yesterday is sitting at my house, ready to be installed, and I'm sitting at work.

Speaking of rings, I have a hint for you folks that have a hard time getting the rings off.
The last time I went through an MRI, I told the assistant that I've tried everything and couldn't get my wedding ring off. She said, no problem and came back with some Windex and squirted on my finger - the ring came right off. Who would have figured? humfrz |
