Yeah I forgot about emissions. Honestly I'm happy enough if they just stay with the same NA fa20 and don't add power. I like building, not buying. The current car leaves a lot on the table in every direction, but is also amazing totally stock. They shouldn't have to change it, other than to keep from being stale.
LOL

Still no turbo!

I think it would be a riot if the instead of the dash pattern having ufo designs, it had turbo designs.

Well, if it's not a turbo and not higher revving, then it must be a mild hybrid. No way they are going to plan an 86 for the next 7+ years and not add more power.

2 bets

$2.00 on it's another refresh

$2.00 on it's discontinued

Why? They never were after power numbers.

They were interested enough when they were designing it in the 2008s or so to give it 200 HP. The car world has evolved, and the trend is increased horsepower. Surely, they can't ignore that, nor their customers desires.

Oh, another speculation

86 discontinued

Enter MR2

Or, Celica

As long as it is RWD and are available in manual they would definitely be on my short list.

...throw in that new 4cyl hybrid engine Toyota have been spruking about, a hard tuned version of what is in the corolla.

I would drop the Subaru partnership if I was Toyota, there has been quite a few issues, the valve spring fiasco is a marketing nighrmare.

Make Toyota great again

One can only hope..... 8k+ would be amazing...... but knpwing subaru.... the chance of that is lower then 10%.

Tada had alluded in the past to a possible KERS hybrid system for the model's future. It could coincide with other FA/FB cars getting a KERS mild hybrid setup. Eventually all ICE cars will need electric assistance to meet emissions, so maybe this is relatively low hanging fruit?

I love the PZEV badge on my wife's Impreza. "Partial zero emissions" what a nice term!
My 86 is a TZEV (Total Zero Emissions Vehicle) when it isn't running, just like that feel-good moronic PZEV.
