They regulate safety related recalls. They don't give one shit if the work done in those recalls causes engine failure. They have zero that they could or would do about the post "repair" failures.

So, yeah, if they are interested in safety, they should be a lot more concerned about cars stalling BECAUSE of the recall.

My point was that people seem to think that NHTSA is somehow going to help them fight Subaru/Toyota in getting the repairs covered for free or make them do it "right". They aren't. That isn't what they do. Yes if they feel it is a safety issue they will say as such but that is far as their "help" will go.

And to add to it, don't forget the recall was NOT an NHTSA mandated recall. It was a voluntary recall by Subaru/Toyota.

Agreed on all accounts, I think the NHTSA posts were just to raise awareness and try to pressure the companies. Let's try to keep this in the discussion thread, rather than the registry thread

Mileage After Recall Performed: 2KM. The car left the dealership making the sound, turned it off as soon as I got home and never used it again.
Symptom(s): Knocking
Failure: Engine working making a ticking sound.
City,Country: Lisbon, Portugal
Is Dealership Offering Repair: Dealership offers to investigate but if the issue was not caused by the recall, I will pay everything.

Not sure if I'm going to have the repair done at the dealership premisses or not...

It is beyond that but yes the number of perfectly fine cars outnumbers the failures by a huge margin. There were too many pre recall failures to just ignore but that does not mean they were the majority.

Damn. That didn't last long.

I understand the dealers are trying everything they can to weasel their way out of losing money... but I can't wrap my head around how they can possibly say these engine aren't on them.

You take an engine pretty significantly apart, a few hundred miles later it blows up... that's on you. It isn't the old "ever since you changed my headlight the transmission shudders" complaint.

Count me as one of those clowns. #3 spun at about 84K miles. The car is known to not produce much oil pressure (all years). Add to that the packing related problems on the early 2013s and your bound to have failures.

Obviously the majority of them haven't failed but it's FAR from just 3 people. There are registry threads similar to this one for bearing failures on early 2013s.

The bottom line is this engine can't afford even the slightest restriction of oil flow.

Anyways pretty useless statement. I'll cut myself off here for sake of keeping this thread manageable and clean for people actually looking for information pertaining to failures. I have only 15 miles on mine so far. I hope I don't have to post again in here.

Is Dealership Offering Repair: Currently no, have a case and been back and worth with headquarters and the dealership.

They pulled the engine and put the passenger engine mount on backwards... Yes backwards... They tried to claim it was just normal wear and tear and tried charging me $675 for new motor mounts. So I bought some online for $76 and did it myself to find out they literally forced the passenger mount on backwards somehow like idiots...
