That other dude has far to much time on his hands and a really weird hobby. The best I could tell is that like the graphs the differences are so minor that all but the best of the built engines can use any of the synthetics without fear.

For what it's worth here is my experience...
Dealership supplied Mobil Super 3000 I burned almost a full liter during 10k kms. Castrol Edge Titanium had no oil burn for first 5k and last 5k kms lost ~1/2 liter. Motul 8100 Eco-lite I had around 1/4-1/2 liter loss over 10k kms. The Motul had such little loss I can almost say the difference could be how level the ground was where I check my oil, this car is super sensitive to that. I check my oil every second fuel fill-up, so every other week. Currently still running Motul. All daily driving, no track use other than some "spirited" canyon driving a few times a year. Where I am, Motul is also the cheapest by nearly 30% over the Castrol. Castrol only slightly cheaper if I catch it on sale. |

I put AMSoil in my 2013 Subaru BRZ Premium. I believe my choice is largely for peace of mind, I have not done any independent studies or run anything besides AMSoil since I bought the car.

I have run Castrol oil in all my small bore imported sports (and sporty) cars. Over the years, that includes a Fiat 124, Datsun 280Z, 2 x Toyota Supra, Acura Integra GSR, Nissan 350Z and now a 2ZZ swapped MR2 Spyder. I really think the difference in most "performance" oil is just marketing. However, in all the years that I have used Castrol, I have never had an internal engine failure despite driving the cars very hard. That is all that really matters to me.

I get whatever synthetic is currently running a rebate. This one is good until June 30th. I got my rebate ~2 weeks after I submitted it.

Mag1 is a great oil.
If I cant find that its usually mobil one since its sold so inexpensively at Walmart. This last oil change I used QSUD for the first time. I'm sure it will be fine. |

I'll never run Amsoil in anything I own. When a company resorts to cult-like MLM schemes and fake science presentations reminiscent of a Clark Stanley medicine show to market its product, I become suspicious that it's made from genuine rattlesnakes.

You folks need to get out of here with your Plebeian oils! The most obvious answer is Mobil1.

Snake oil is still just snake oil. I learned a while back with monster audio products, if it appears the marketing team has put more effort into the description than the packaging team did on the box, it is not a product worth paying extra for unless you plan to showcase marketing department successes.
