Maintenance Suggestions - new BRZ

New BRZ owner question here?
Does Subaru sell oil change packs (like 5 for a certain price), or is changing the oil and filter easy enough to do it alone. What are some suggestions. I did not opt for the pricey service contracts, they cost like $3K and up it did not make sense to me. But time is of the essence because of my work and travel schedule, so buying a set of oil changes makes sense I think.

Thanks!

Best to check with your local dealer as to what they offer. The packages are all dealer based so they will vary.
These are very easy to change the oil on if DIY is an option for you.

It's so easy to change the oil, I can't imagine shopping it out.
Time / Money maybe, most time spent would be waiting for the old oil to drain out.

If you're worried about your manicure, even that can be saved with a drain valve.
The oil filter is >right there< , drains itself when you turn off the motor and costs $7.

If you use a funnel to put the new oil in, all you need is 1 starbucks napkin to clean up after.

Without the funnel, things can get serious

Is this standard across all subaru dealers?

I've had my twin for less than 2yrs, and have paid for at least 1 oil change at the dealer.

From what I understand Subaru pays for it on all new cars. 4 oil changes max. I would go back to the dealer and get a refund or an additional oil change after the 2 years.

I can’t find any 5 pack deals and the 3 pack deal sucks compared to just buying them individually.

you're much more trustworthy than i am of people that are being paid almost nothing, are generally unsupervised, and have very little to lose.

I worked at Jiffy Lube the summer after high school. Went from washing windows to assistant manager in 6 weeks

75% of our guys showed up every morning in a white van from the jail. Work release program kept us going. Everyone from a gangbanger who went to jail at 16 for stealing an entire car dealership, to a 50-something accountant whole embezzled $100k to buy his dad a heart transplant.

Good times. And no, I would never, ever take my car to any of those places. Granted, that was over 15 years ago.

They do 25 oil changes a day.
You do 2 a year.
You are way way more likely to screw something up.
Of course, no one can admit this b/c car guy knows all.
