It has been sucking the life out of me since it started with all the executive management turnover a couple years back. One of the top reasons I'm retiring early. I sit here and wait for something to break. Sucks. I haven't had a new assignment since my new boss was hired 2.5 years ago.

trying to figure out what I want to drive or more importantly what I will actually fit in. I'm worried about these exotics. then again if I fit in my BRZ I should be fine right?

I don't know... I'm on-call today getting paid not-to-fly. Part of me is happy I can work on my computer game I'm writing. The other part of me wants to go 5000mph with my hair on fire... well ok 500mph but whatever.

I feel you dude.

At my previous job, I was pretty heavily relied upon and had a ton of work to do at any given moment. Now at my current job, since I'm now the "new guy" who's 10+ years younger than most of my co-workers, nobody is relying on me for anything yet. Plus, the guy I work under was basically a one-man department for so long, he always seems to forget to ask me to help him out with whatever he's doing (literally the reason they hired me, mind you), so I'm basically in the same boat as you: I sit at my desk until I get alerted to a problem.

As that dude, it can be a huge adjustment to forward things to someone else. I often find myself first asking how his workload is before sending anything, and encourage him to go nuts on OffSec studying and testing if things are slow. You shouldn't have to, but maybe ask if there is anything you can help with. It might encourage the guy to think about sending more things your way.

Thankfully he drives a 2015 WRX, not a 2013 FRS, or else this could get really awkward.

Just got back from a sales conference in Tucson, Arizona. I've never been that far south in the USA... the Sonoran Desert is quite beautiful despite all the spiny and poisonous things it contains. The trip timing couldn't have been better either, they had snow there last week so it was actually colder than at home. It was a nice 24C on Tuesday for a desert jeep tour to see all the different cacti, petroglyphs, and try some barrel cactus fruit. Now back to just above freezing and overcast... home sweet home.

In other news, I'm taking my car back to the shop tomorrow for some strange suspension clunks and "spring bind" noises when turning at low speeds. These only manifested in the last couple of months after I got my camber corrected with tophats, camber bolts, and controls arms last fall. Should all be taken care of under warranty but hoping nothing serious is wrong as everything was perfect and silent for the first 5k kms or so. I was under the car for an oil change a couple of weeks ago and couldn't find anything loose or broken, but I also had no idea what I should be looking for.

I know that I'm "out of the loop" but it seems like there are a lot of people (at least on this forum) that don't have a lot of work to do at their work. -

Hell, I'm retired and I have more "work" to do that I can shake a stick at - I'm just too damn lazy to do it -

Yeah, you're right. I should try to be more proactive I guess.

Come to think about it, it IS a little spooky that we work in the same field, in the same region of the same state (roughly), drive the same car (basically...), but have essentially inverted job roles...

That is the primary reason I switched jobs about 5 years ago. I had the option of being promoted and moving up, or taking a buy-out package because of a reorg. The promotion meant moving to New Jersey (oh, hell no) so I took the money and ran.

@Tcoat you are welcome in Georgia anytime, you'd fit right in, but I wouldn't do it either for a pay cut!

@Spuds as well, although I'm not sure if it is another growing IS department. Both twins and WRXes (WRXs?) seem to be pretty popular with people in tech. I just wonder how we don't cross one another on the road more often.

Huh. Small world I guess. As for the WRX and twins being popular with tech people, I've noticed that trend as well. You can probably throw the Focus ST/RS in there too. Maybe tech people have a predisposition to wanting a fun car that also works as a daily?

I'm not really down in York too often, so if that's where you are we're unlikely to cross paths. But if you do happen to see an Asphalt FR-S with a chunk of paint missing from the front bumper, that's me.
