I was going to make a prime rib dinner this weekend for Mrs. Ho's birthday, but now it is stir fry. And I bought more bread making stuff, have two different sourdough starters going, and am dying to bake some bread.

Reminds me of a story, back in Missouri, when I was arranging for experimental field trials. Not too far from where I lived, down on some prime Missouri River bottom land, this farmer farmed several hundred acres. Each year I rented a few acres to conduct pesticide experiments.


I was about to put in a garden at my place (about a 1/4 acre) and ask him if he had a rototiller I could borrow. He said he didn't have anything like that. I asked him how he worked up his garden?

A garden, the old farmer exclaimed, why would I have a garden, I just send my wife up to the supermarket, they have all kinds of fresh fruits and vegetables. -

God no, can't mention I need anything to my mom. She has an addiction to buying things off the shopping channels. She always brings a box of stuff she bought when she comes over.

Now I'm cooking for 10 people without an oven Sunday night. I'm thinking a big pot of chicken and dumplings with a salad. Easy peasy comfort food.

Mrs. Ho is freaking out, 52. I think she still has a couple miles left in her.
