Will, can they do warranty work? Just out of curiosity.

Nope, warranty has to go through a Scion dealer (toyota only isn't good enough either from what I've been told).

Save yourself 500$ and do it yourself. Its only slightly more challenging than an oil change.
It wasn't too bad you need universals/magnets to remove them /tubing to put in the plugs. After this build up your own tools and skill. changing out these plugs is no different than any other car... its just sideways |

Plugs alone are like $80-$100, keep that in mind with any quotes if they include parts. Then factor in any tools you have to buy.
Unless you're running copper plugs and changing them every 10k km's, it might actually be cheaper in the long run to just pay for them to swapped. There's also the time/hassle factor, is it worth giving up half a weekend day (or more) to try it yourself? Also factor in needing to have it towed if you get the plugs out and can't get it back together.

Same, I have a million other things eating up my time... spending half a day fighting with spark plugs is VERY low on my priority list.

A friend did it in his garage, he's a tech at one of the local dealerships and had figured out the right combinations of tools to make it easy. Took him like an hour with me there distracting him.

I got the same quote. $600 for plugs
Then I asked for the 60.000 mile service. $500. That includes plugs, coolant flush, brake flush, oil & filter change, air filter and cabin filter, and tire rotation. Made no sense to me but $500 for all that wasn't a bad deal imo. |

Save your self some money do it yourself.
You'll need to buy some tools, Magnetic flexible pick up tools, Long reach needle nose pilers, Some short/long wrench extensions, A 6 pack of beer or your choice, Fingers less gloves, Band aids, Loud music to cover up you cursing like a sailor. That should do it. Just take your time, practice removing extensions one handed, and with needle noses. Oh and make sure to do back stretching exercises. You'll be bent over for a while. This vid should help out, it did with mine.
