How about regular TEIN Flex A vs CSG version
Hi everyone. Recently I was just taking a look at a coilover for my 2017 brz.
I have made some studies these weeks and finally I have limited the choices to TEIN FLA or Mono Sport. I will mainly focus on daily driving, sometimes driving in mountain road. I am willing to sacrifice some ride quality for much more aggressive driving. Then I came here to see if there has some demo or experience. Although I guess most of you are in US, the driving condition and road may different from China, but I just like to take a reference. And after that I've found you have the CSG FLA which is a optimized version of regular FLA. I love that one but I think what I can buy is only the regular FLA because delivery from US may cause very expensive delivery cost. So I would like to know: How is regular FLA compared with CSG version? How is mono sport behave? Is it also suitable for street driving use? I know the spring rate for mono is front 8 rear 9 which is much more stiff than FLA. But I haven't any chance to test these two so I don't know if FLA is enough for me. The price of these two has not such a big gap. I think FLA is nearly $1700 and MONO is nearly $2000. |

Third of all, CSG FLA's valving range is shifted completely compared to the standard TEIN Flex A. Every click is distinctly different and allows adjust to a variety of tire compounds, aero setup, and chassis setup. This is very important because there are users of the TEIN Flex A who are hitting the limitations of the coilovers when they start to drive at a spirited pace on track. Fourth of all, TEIN Mono Sport was a great setup as a triple inverted tube assembly in front. Excellent rigidity and consistency. We originally wanted to use the TEIN Mono Sport as a base, but after doing some testing, we found that the system could not incorporate the desired valving setup we needed for daily and heavy track activities. Fifth of all, due to the shift in valving and systematic improvements in refinement per each click, the comfort level over certain bumps and berms are far more controlled than the standard TEIN Flex A and the TEIN Mono Sport. While the TEIN Mono Sport can be setup for heavy track applications, the comfort is sacrificed. Meanwhile, the comfort has been increased with the CSG FLA, despite its track focus valving. One client has even gone as far as to use accelerometers to quantify the qualitative response he felt after using the CSG FLA. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=126107 Sixth of all, CSG FLA has been tested for consistency in high performance applications. The consistency that is required for a very high pace time attack setup is dramatically different compared to standard street application. The CSG FLA takes into account the heat generated from heavy racing applications. While not a complete racing coilover system, it incorporates key attributes from it. It is a street coilover that can take heavy track driving. Our CSG SRC is a track coilover that can tolerate street driving. The goal and application is different and thus the separation between the two products. Lastly, CSG FLA retails for $1440. Taking a standard TEIN Flex A and revalving to our spec would put it higher than the TEIN Mono Sport price. We have also proven two years in a row with the only Subaru BRZ / Toyota 86 in the field at Global Time Attack Super Lap Battle to win overall Enthusiast Class and Enthusiast RWD Class. Our 2017 Subaru BRZ has fairly basic modifications including the CSG FLA, CSG Spec LSD, CSG Brake system, GReddy turbo kit + oil cooler, CSG cooling system, and simple aero bolt-ons regulated to Enthusiast Class regulations. You guys have really got me considering ditching my BC's for your FLA on my street driven car. I don't mean to thread jack, but thank you for providing all of this info because OP isn't the only one with these comparison questions.

Stupid question, couldn't find the answer on the CSG site... the flex A's are single adjustable, right?
