Wow... so in WA you can't legally go above 18x7 rims?! What a bunch of wankers.

That's irrelevant in a thread about legality, because neither of those options are even close to legal.
I bought my first WRX in 1994 and enjoyed a few years of worry free motoring before they became popular with the exact demographic this car is being marketed at (the Silvia demographic). These cars will be cop magnets ... and probably rightly so. |

I'm putting 18x7.5 by +45 with 225/40 federal 595 rs-r on mine easy, legal, and won't upset the handling balance.

With regards to legalities of the track, I guess it’s lucky it isn’t your car, huh?

The Toyota supplied TRD wheels are 18 x 7.5 with 225/40 Michelen Pilot Super Sport tyres on them so I'm comfortable that it'll be legal and handling will be ok. Problem is the TRD wheels are about four times the price of after market wheels so definitely won't be using the actual TRD wheels. And, as the TRD version here doesn't have the TRD coilovers (they are an extra) I assume all with fit on the stock setup. Might look at 18 x 8 but only if will work and handle with stock setup without long-term issues. Don;t know much about wheels so will need to research or get advice on that. |

I am assuming, that like me, you don’t care too much about a slight track increase though

Panman, your example only increases track by 6mm and is perfectly legal. |

Track increase is to the centre of the tyre - because I'm going at the +45 or at worst +48 offset (same as std) so increase in track will be around 6mm. Last edited by Panman; 07-15-2012 at 10:35 PM. Reason: Because I had it wrong - Thanks Coyote. |

I don’t know what you’re fuckin problem is with me though?? I couldn’t care less if you listen to me or not Don’t flatter yourself.I am not sure where you got your track calculation from, but I typed in all of the information into a track calculator and it worked it out. It says there is a track increase of 1.126in. Do they maths. 1in = close enough to 25mm. Now all you do next is multiply 25 x 1.126, and let me know the result What do you mean I have “once again made a statement that is completely incorrect and misleading”?? That’s a rude implication there, and you are guilty of providing incorrect/misleading info as well mate... |
