I assume that you have not driven a twin with 245's... I am on my 10th (at least) different wheels/ tires setup. I have tried most of these sizes staggered and square. And a few setups I tried with different brand tires. Meaning I had 4 Michelins, then got 4 different brand tires. 215/45/17 225/45/17 245/40/17 215/40/18 225/40/18 245/35/18 17x7 17x7.5 18x8 18x9 So, with my evolution of trying different sizes, I have settled on 245/35/18 square. I like how they drive.

I have been driving with Konig Hypergram 17x8+40 wheels and 245/40-17 tires without any problem. No camber adjustments either. Very happy with the configuration. Just like they always say, it should have come factory like this. I think this is the widest I can do with just take-off/put-on.

Please explain what you mean. What 245/40 are you rolling? Konigs are great wheels for the money. I have Konig Oversteer wheels.

Oversteers look better than hypergrams, imo. But I chose hypergrams in the end for specs. They don't look bad now that I had them for a while. |

I get what you are saying now. Thank you for the clarification. Haven't tried those tires before... I like the amount of concaveness the oversteer has. It also is 20lbs, so not crazy heavy. Your set is lighter weight and is "flow formed"; which they claim makes them stronger. There really aren't many options for lightweight wheels in the price range of the Hypergram. Nice Choice! I was running 18x8 +45, which is 5mm closer. I added a spacer to be able to add camber.

Many members state narrower tires are fun and playful to drive. But with FI, standard width was a little too playful. I wasn't able to put the power on the road and even daily driving turned into a struggle with oversteering. 245 Generals solved the problem. They have very good grip and they restored the confidence/stability. These are AS, not summer though. But my decision is to stick with AS tires as we get too much rain during summer in the Adirondacks. I feel safer with AS.

Those many members automatically assume that car is NA, like most are. And "adjust" own advises/suggestions, when they are given for those running NA.

You'll need to answer a lot more before getting a good answer... What are your plans for the car? Lowering it at all? Springs, or coilovers? What kind of driving? What sort of alignment specs? What kind of tires(EHP tires run wider than normal for the same size, sometimes up to an inch wider)? Keeping the car N/A, or adding a turbo/super charger?

I am enjoying my koing hypergrams in 17x8 with 225-40-17 Firestone Indyhawks. About a .6 lbs lower difference per corner and better level of grip. For under 400$ and a tq340 I am happy. Looking forward to taking the car to it's first track day after getting my suspension, alignment, and wheels and tires done.

As for what will fit, as I mentioned, it depends what tires you are going for although I understand it is possible to fit most 245/40r17 under stock fenders and suspension on a 17x8 or 17x9 +35 wheel. Anything with less offset will contact your spring perch. Note that something like -48 is technically less offset. A 17x9 +35 will end up with some poke up front but that can be minimized by dialing in some negative camber, you just gotta be careful that you avoid the spring perch on such a wide wheel and tire up front. You should give yourself at least 5mm of clearance to allow for some deflection. |
