Unfortunately my clock idea is dead. No one makes a clock motor with a long enough shaft. It will just have to be a wheel on the wall.
How long does it have to be? You can probably make a few shaft extensions of various diameters...

Well, I reckon you're jest ah usen too much, you don't hafta use the whole can -

I was usen belt dressing before you were born, on bigger belts than you have ever worked around. It was black sticky stuff that came in large cylinder shaped tubes. The only difficulty was to figure out which side of the belt to treat, when they crossed the belt to make the machine run in the proper direction.

The longest threaded shaft i can find is 15/16. I need like 1 7/16.

The other option is machining the inside of the rim, but then the clock gets way too expensive.

But then you're just hanging a wheel on the wall.

You have to make the clock. Otherwise you're just keeping it for spite.

...which is still a good enough reason but it's no clock.

Another option is making bent arms.

Nothing that fits inside the center bore?

No, a 1.5 inch threaded shaft would just give me enough to get thru the center cap. I would still have to bend the arms to clear the rim spokes. To have straight arms I would need about a 3 inch shaft.

I found a small round clock motor that would fit in the bore. It is commonly used to restore old auto clocks, but it is super wimpy and only has enough torque to handle 1 inch arms, so it would be a very tiny clock in a big rim.
