So the plug doesnt actually go where the strut top damper adjustment is in my pictures, the water is actually coming from a problem further underneath the car?? hmm this could mean there is water settling in the subframe and finding its way to the strut top? When I wrote this, I assumed that maybe there was something missing where the camber adjust goes, but it seems it may be an even larger issue? :S

Yes, if its because they didnt put those plugs in, then it would mean water has been accumulating in your subframe and the mosture starting accumlating up there.

I have a feeling the water I am seeing is from a different area completely, however thanks very much for that image.. I will look to see if mine is in there or not.. That would be a very big oversight if that one wasn't in there! I am assuming the water I am reporting is coming up through the strut itself, as you can see road grime in the strut top, so it's obviously not very well sealed.. I figure if they arent going to seal the strut top, then a measure to stop that water getting into the car eventually should be in place..

I'm missing my tie-down grommet on the driver's side, and I can confirm that there are no caps on top of the struts in my trunk.

Maybe the holes above the rear struts are more 'noise generators'.....

Sounds like we need to start a list of items that need to be checked when we get our car.
I don't know how to set that thread up. Any help out there? So far. 1. Check if grommet is in place about 1' in front of the rear tires 2. Make sure there is transmission fluid 3. 4. 5. |

That's the hole that should be capped with the rubber grommet during PDI. Water and road debris can get up there and eventually cause rust or rattles but I would personally worry about a small animal getting up there and taking a shit or dying. Ive opened my hood and found poop on top of the engine because an animal found it to be a warm dry safe place to take a nap in the winter.
