Smaller Engine Oil Fill Cap
My current stock engine oil fill cap rubs against the sensor wires on my oil cooler sandwich adapter. Wondering if anyone knows of an aftermarket oil cap that has a thinner overall diameter.
I welcome all questions and intolerances about me not wanting to adjust the sandwich plate; it doesn't leak and I don't want it to leak, so I'm choosing the path of least resistance to resolve this issue. Mind you, this is the wiring going to an oil temp sensor that uses one of the 1/8th NPT fitting on the side. Otherwise there'd be no issue. Thanks in advance!

Just file the cap down a little bit.

Did you do anything to your sandwich plate for it not to leak or did you just got lucky? Mine seems to believe its job is coating everything around it in oil. Its pretty at that actually.

I'm considering a Dremel mod if I can't find something nicer to replace it.
I torqued it barely hand tight. I researched a lot and found that the spacer cracks. This happens a lot in water cooled computer systems, (very easy to over tighten a barb) so I just barely made it hand tight and left it. Doing well for about 10k miles! |

The stock cap is very soft, I just used a large file to trim it down.

I appreciate the posts suggesting a DIY approach. However, for those who don't want do go that direction or would like to incorporate a subtle aesthetic/visual engine bay mod into this solution, it would be great to have a list of aftermarket oil caps with known good fitment with aftermarket oil coolers.
I have the same issue with my OEM cap and I would love to replace it with an aftermarket cap that easily clears the sandwich plate fittings!

I haven't checked aftermarket oil caps for a while, but wow there is quite a selection of them on ft86speedfactory! Some tempting options for sure!
Without knowing the exact outer diameter of the OEM cap and then comparing that measurement value to an aftermarket cap, it's difficult to know what would fit or not. Hopefully people running aftermarket caps with oil coolers see this thread and can let us know what caps have a good fit.

Try RacerX. I had a STI oil cap that rubbed on the adapter. They have a smaller diameter one on their website.
