As far as the solvent smell, I suggest you replace the cabin filter, then place a fan inside the car and let it run overnight with the windows down. Paint curing? Back in the day (with enamel paint) we used to wait 30 days. It may be shorter for new paints - yes, check with the body shop. humfrz |

Today I finally finished up my HID retrofit and put the car back together. I'm glad I decided to paint the chrome bezels. The black headlights definitely adds some aggressiveness to the look of the car.
![]() Low beams ![]() The $5 for the high beam splitter harnesses was absolutely worth it. The "brights" are actually bright now. No deers hiding on the side of the road will go unnoticed. ![]() If the MVA ever gets around to sending me my fucking paperwork I'll be able to align them and put them to the test on some actual roads. |

This weekend I installed the following:
WHITELINE POSITIVE SHIFT GEARBOX BUSHING ![]() PERRIN TRANSMISSION MOUNT SUPPORT ![]() CUSCO SHIFT LEVER RETAINER BUSHING ![]() and I removed the TRD QUICK SHIFT KIT, which came loose twice (despite using threadlock). Seriously the worst engineered POS i've ever had when it comes to car mods. I would HIGHLY discourage it's use. With all those bushings the shifting is tight and precise, without being notchy. The NVH is considerable, but livable. Now it sounds very racecar-like. My wife hates it. Win win! [note: I had to widen the hole in the gearbox bushing to allow the wider mount support to sit flush.] |

Picked up winter tires (Michelin X-Ice Xi3) on stock rims yesterday. Still have time to swap them on, its been in the 60s/70s/sometimes 80s here, but it's nice to have them ready to go. Might paint the rims before I swap them on?

Walked to the garage, did a cursory under hood inspection, started it and checked the supercharger fluid.

I was driving to the DMV on Tuesday, and a rock hit my windshield and cracked it. Later that same day, I went to SafeLite and made an appointment. Thankfully, they were able to repair the crack the next day so it was dealt with pretty quickly and at least I don't need a whole new windshield. they also said if it doesn't pass inspection or starts to open back up, they'll deduct the cost of this repair from the cost of a new windshield, which I thought was a pretty good policy. Still really sucks, but at least its taken care of now.
Normally, this wouldn't have bothered me that much, but just a couple weeks ago I had other road debris mess up the paint on my bumper, which I haven't had the time to fix yet. So its just so frustrating to have this happen so soon after that. Spending money on these repairs is preventing me from doing the stuff I want to with the car, which is driving me nuts. I guess it's probably cosmic karma for my posts in the street racing thread lol. |

My fr-s has a chip in the windsheild too. Drove around 18 months with a broken windsheild. Then in prep for a road trip in 2 weeks, I put a new windsheild in. Litterally 1 day later, a stick hits the windsheild and busts it. My wife called me, "You will not believe what just happened!" "Oh no, windsheild number 5!" It happened 2 more times after that. Yeah, 13 years, 200,000 miles, & 7 windsheilds. Im sorry to hear about your windsheild, but as far as my life goes, windsheilds get changed along with the oil! lol.

Wait until you get the quote. Basedon my experience, they're the most expensive for a replacement. I found windshields at half the cost and will still come to your home or office. Usually Groupon has some great deals.

They said the replacement would cost around $350, and I'm assuming that's just the windshield itself and that I'd need to pay for labor as well. I'll shop around though for sure if I do end up needing to replace the windshield.

That price should include the labor and disposal.
