I also painted mine. They've been apart twice. No new sealant added, just clamp as much as you can after putting them back together. Looks fine with the reflectors left alone too.
been through plenty of rain in the 8 or so months they've been on the car, and everything between 20 and 100 degrees F. Best mod for the FRS! Share it with us when you're done!

Opening the headlights was much easier than I was anticipating. I tried doing it with just a heat gun, but the oven route was much faster/easier and luckily I didn't melt my headlights like I was afraid of.

I've used this method to clean off the inner metal door skin on cars after removing the plastic weather shield. It works really well. |

Here's a tip: don't every use Goof Off on the headlight lense. Good to know WD40 will take off butyl. I ruined a headlight once with the Goof Off after I got a thread of butyl on the lense during disassembly

Got my headlights back together today. I wish I had just left the old sealant in place. It was a real bitch to scoop that shit out...
![]() To those that used the kit from TRS: what did you use to seal the back of the housing behind the low beam? Is the kit supposed to come with a new plug?

Today I modified the impreza fire extinguisher bracket I had from my last car to fit in my FRS.
Now I can access my extinguisher while seated, if I ever need to. |

I put a knife through it to make a thin but wide enough hole to slide stuff through. You could then, after pushing the wires through, seal it with a rubber compound of your choice

I think I've come up with a solution. The projectors came with a few white "doughnuts" that according to Morimoto's website are for a different purpose. The brown boot fits into the center of the doughnut perfectly and the outer edge of the doughnut sits on the inner rim of the stock boot with just enough overlap for some glue/sealant. Tomorrow I'll get some silicone adhesive to bond the two and this should be good.

Got the FR-S back from the body shop, scratch & ding are gone -back to 100% new looking! Chemical smell of paint/thinner stinks beyond belief when you close the windows and let the car marinate for a while.
I have to call the body shop back because I forgot to ask how long does the paint need to fully cure before I can wash and wax. |
